Simply Supported Beam

Objective:
To find von-mises stresses and stress independence in simply supported beam

Theory:
FEA is a computer simulation method in engineering. It models structures by breaking
them into smaller elements, predicts their behavior under various conditions, and is
widely used for design optimization and failure prediction in engineering.
Von-Mises stress is a scalar measure that combines normal and shear stresses to predict
yielding or failure in materials under complex loading. It simplifies the stress analysis by
representing the overall stress state. If the Von-Mises stress exceeds the material's yield
strength, it suggests potential yielding.
A simply supported beam is a structural element supported at both ends, allowing rotation
and vertical displacement. It is commonly used in engineering for applications like
bridges and floors. The supports permit free rotation and vertical movement but restrain
horizontal movement. We solve the simply supported beam through these all conditions

Procedure:
 First, we design the simply supported beam in solid works and then we put this
design to Ansys workbench
 In the software, we find the stresses
 In this, we take geometry from step file of solid works and then model option
press so our model is opened in workbench.
 Therefore, we give meshing 5mm and then we fixed the two sides of simply
supported beam give force to the beam,
 Which is 1000N in downward direction. In addition, we go to the give it von-
mises stress and then solve the simply supported beam.
 We give meshing up-to 5mm to 1mm and achieve different equivalent stresses
Meshing(mm) Equivalent Stresses Max(MPa)

5mm 17.661

4mm 19.589

3mm 21.479

2mm 24.596

1mm 31.408
