MUN - POSITION PAPER - UNSC -DELEGATE OF FRANCE

First of all,
As France's envoy to the UN, our delegation understands how vital it is to address the
interrelated problems of deforestation and carbon emissions. France has always pushed for
international cooperation in the fight against environmental degradation and climate change.
Our stance emphasises how critical it is to move quickly to reduce the damaging
consequences of carbon emissions and deforestation on the environment. France has
actively supported resolutions in past UN sessions that sought to reduce these
environmental issues and encourage sustainable activities. In order to preserve the
environment for the benefit of present and future generations, we think it is important to
promote international cooperation.

France has been significantly impacted by the consequences of carbon emissions and
deforestation. The increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, such as
floods and heatwaves, have directly affected our country. Recognizing the severity of these
issues, France considers them major global challenges that demand immediate attention.
The degradation of ecosystems and loss of biodiversity pose threats not only to the
environment but also to our social and economic well-being. The delegation emphasises the
need for a comprehensive approach to address the root causes of these challenges.

Looking to the future, France envisions a world where sustainable development is prioritised,
and nations commit to reducing carbon emissions and halting deforestation. Our delegation
advocates for the implementation of innovative technologies and policies that promote
cleaner energy sources, afforestation initiatives, and the conservation of natural habitats.
France believes in the power of international cooperation to foster a collective response to
these issues, ensuring that no country is left behind in the pursuit of a sustainable and
resilient future.

France has actively participated in initiatives to combat deforestation and carbon emissions.
Our country has implemented reforestation projects, invested in renewable energy sources,
and supported international agreements such as the Paris Agreement. However, France
acknowledges that there is still much work to be done. Our delegation is open to evaluating
the effectiveness of past efforts, acknowledging any flaws, and seeking improvements in
collaboration with the global community.

In conclusion, France remains committed to the fight against carbon emissions and
deforestation. As we enter the resolution phase, our delegation will collaborate with
like-minded nations to propose comprehensive solutions. We understand the importance of
collective action and will strive to build consensus for an effective and impactful resolution.
Together with our allies, we will work towards a sustainable future, ensuring the well-being of
both humanity and the planet.
