the United Nations (FAO), Nigeria is the World s
largest producer of Shea nuts (FAO stat 2013) with
capacity to produce 355,000 metric tons of Shea nuts
per annum which amounts to approximately 24% of
the world s production capacity of 1,500,000 metric
tons. Presently Shea products are exported to France,
Great Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, North
America and Japan.

The Shea industry supports employment for more than16
million women across Africa. Its role in food production,
foreign exchange earnings, raw materials for industries,
income and employment generation to millions of Nigerians
most especially women and young people makes it a crucial
asset for national economic development. With adequate
exploitation, the crop has the potentials to make significant
contribution to the country s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Currently, Shea is undergoing renewed demand from the high
value confectioneries (chocolate producing), pharmaceutical
and cosmetic industries.

Shea has become an important non-timber forest
product on the international market. The products
from Shea are exported in one of two ways. Either the
nuts themselves, after being roasted, or the nuts are
processed into Shea butter within the country of
origin, and then exported. Shea products were first
recognized as an important export for West Africa
during the Colonial period.

The company has seasoned professionals with


decades of experience in the Nigerian agricultural
focus, with special relation to the sourcing,

Faku Allied Agro Limited was incorporated in


Nigeria by the Corporate Affairs Commission with
RC No: 750223 in accordance with Company and
Allied Matter Act of 1990 as a private limited
liability company.

Faku Allied Agro Limited believes that sustainable


success can be achieved if the product provides
added value for each link in the chain. This creates
a win-win situation for everyone associated with
the Company s main raw material - the shea nut.

create valuable shea nut products, specifically,
shea butter. The Company s aim is to create value
from shea nuts, as well creating opportunities and
empowering.
Faku Allied Agro Limited built up a premium Shea butter
extraction plant with installed capacity of processing 52,800
metric tons of Shea nuts annually to yield 25,344 metric tons of
Shea butter, as part of it current upgrade in operational
structure.

The facility consists of an oil mill, solvent extraction plant and a


pelleting plant. With this investment, the company will achieve
the dual objective of adding significant value to the raw
material and opening up wide market opportunities in the
semi-finished and finished products market both locally and
internationally. It will also support the huge Shea nut economy
in the producing areas that relies on a steady market for their
production.

The Company adopts the guidelines of ISO 9001:2008 Quality

checks are conducted under the supervision
of the company’s quality assurance
personnel. This enables the company to

2B. Plausible Processing:

Prior to final packaging, all products will


undergo well-designed and rigorous
processing procedures, executed by
experienced personnel in order to ensure
that they meet the desired specifications for
local and international trade.
2. USE OF SPECIALIZED SHEA BUTTER
EXTRACTION PLANT:

The Company will procure a state-of-art Shea


butter processing plant from vendors based in
either Malaysia or Turkey. The processing plant
will employ credible production processes,
which will ensure maximum production of high
quality Shea butter. The supplying company
will install the factory and train the production
staff on its operation and maintenance, as well
as the production processes.

3. QUALITY ASSURANCE, HEALTH AND


SAFETY:

Quality assurance, health and safety will be


viewed as an important and necessary function
at Faku Agro Allied Limited, as it provides the
necessary adopted procedures to deliver
finished products within the highest standards,
in addition to ensuring safety of personnel.
The quality assurance, health and safety
personnel in the Company will provide
important services by maintaining a high
standard of product quality and by providing
proper training to the all personnel on quality
control, health and safety procedures that
must be adhered to, in the course of work.
Personnel will be intensely trained in the
course of induction and periodically on safety
procedures. Furthermore the quality
assurance, health and safety Unit will ensure
strict compliance to approved safety
procedures.
Personnel technical knowledge base and expertise:

The Company will employ only personnel that have been thoroughly
screened for the right qualifications and character. The Company will go
a further step to periodically retrain personnel in various disciplines all
targeted at improving operational structure and framework and general
performance on the job.

through cost reduction and optimal performance, utilizing technology and

Faku Agro Allied Limited, a well-established agro-focused
company, which specializes in exportation of agricultural
commodities, agro-processing and rural development projects and
Shea butter processing factory.

The shea butter processing plant is installed to process a daily
capacity of 200 metric tons of Shea nuts. An annual production
capacity of 25,344 metric tons of Shea butter is projected from a
processed capacity of 52, 800 metric tons of Shea nuts.

Faku Agro Allied Limited will establish a Shea Butter Processing Plant,
which will be designed, constructed and installed by the Indian plant
manufacturers, Kumar Metal Industries PVT Limited. On inception, the
Plant will be designed to process a daily capacity of 200 MT of Shea
Nuts, which produces 96MT of Shea butter.

The Shea butter processing plant is 100% export oriented unit with
advanced features and can be maintained at a low cost. The produced
Shea butter meets the international quality standards.

This factory layout is well planned in order to effectively accommodate


the Shea butter processing plant, well-equipped quality assurance
laboratory and other supporting production equipment, machinery and
infrastructure.
The processing plant is installed in a factory, which has been
customized to effectively host all units of production. The proposed
factory layout will be based on the production flow chart of Shea butter.
Pre-treatment & Press Equipment

The primary processing area in the factory will host the milling plant,
while the secondary processing area will host the solvent extraction

4.3 Shea Butter Extraction Plant Set-up
The Shea butter processing plant will be installed in the Company s
factory site, located at Abuja-Kaduna expressway, FCT Abuja. On
completion of the factory installation, a test-run will be undertaken,
in which recruited production personnel will be intensely trained on
the production process and adopted in accordance with the QHSE.
Thereafter, the factory will be inspected and the production processes
certified by Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) and National
Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). At
this point, the company will trademark the Shea butter and
production will fully commence. The technical staff of Kumar Metal
Industries PVT Limited will coordinate, operate and maintain the
production plant for the first 2 years of operations; training the
production personnel and developing local content.
