COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course aims to introduce the field of sociology to the students. It will help students to
appreciate the connection of individual lives with the larger social context. Readings include
investigations into society, social stratification, social inequalities, family, and social
structures to cite a few. It will debate the common assumptions on culture, religion, and
diversity. This course intends to provide a foundation for a deeper understanding of social
sciences.

PEDAGOGY/TEACHINGMETHOD
The course will be delivered through a combination of lectures, discussions, video clips, role
plays and field visit.
