BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Volleyball is a popular sport that not only promotes physical fitness but
also teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship among players. In
elementary schools, volleyball provides young girls with an opportunity to
develop their skills and passion for the game. The volleyball girls at the
elementary level exhibit enthusiasm and dedication, making their games
a joy to watch and participate in.

In a typical elementary school volleyball game, the girls showcase

their agility, coordination, and strategic thinking on the court. The players
learn to work together to bump, set, and spike the ball over the net,
aiming to score points and outplay their opponents. Coaches play a vital
role in guiding these young athletes, teaching them the fundamentals of
the game and instilling values such as perseverance and discipline.

Through their experiences in volleyball, elementary school girls not

only improve their physical abilities but also build confidence and
friendships that can last a lifetime. The camaraderie and support among
teammates create a positive and encouraging environment where each
player can thrive and grow. Ultimately, the volleyball girls at the
elementary level embody the spirit of sportsmanship and determination,
inspiring others to pursue their passions and dreams both on and off the
court.
On Sunday afternoon, February 18, 2023, me and my friends went to
Cantilan, Surigao Del Sur, to conduct an interview with a random coach
and players in the provincial meet that happened in Cantilan, Surigao
Del Sur. This activity is for our PE subject, which is handled by Mrs.
Jessielyn Cuadrillero. We go to different venues for every sport to
support UNIT 1 and also to find some random coaches and players to
conduct our interviews. Before we conduct an interview, we enjoy
watching and supporting UNIT 1, especially the players of Carrascal,
while finding some players and coaches that will be chosen to be part of
my interview.
My friends and I were walking around Cantilan, and we thought about
asking where the other sports venues are, and someone told us that
there is one sport at San Pedro Gymnasium, so we decided to go there,
and there are elementary students playing volleyball and basketball
there. While we were watching, we saw a coach, and I asked if I could
conduct an interview about sports, and I also introduced myself for them
to know. The name of the coach is Mrs. Love Jean Trugillo, and I asked
Mrs. Trugillo if it would be possible to interview one of his players, and
Mrs. Trugillo said that it was possible, and the name of this player is
Chellsy Blaire T. Pradas.
The elementary women’s volleyball team showed off their abilities
and tenacity on the court in the just-finished provincial match. They were
up against fierce competition from a number of schools, notably the
formidable San Agustin squad, under the direction of their devoted
coach, Mrs.Love Jean Trugillo. The coach, Mrs. Trugillo, was an
important volleyball coach who led and trained the team. Along with
teaching them the fundamentals of the game, she also ingrained in them
moral principles like discipline, collaboration, and sportsmanship.
Throughout the competition, Love Jean Trugillo’s devotion to her players
and her love for the game were clear to see. These are the interview
questions and answers of Mrs. Trugillo for my interview:
1Q: What are you feeling right now while coaching a game?
Mrs Trugillo: I feel happy and nervous while watching the game
because this is provincial meet.
2Q: What are some fundamental techniques that elementary volleyball
players should focus on?
Mrs. Trugillo: Players should prioritise learning basic skills such as
serving, passing, setting, and hitting. It’s essential for them to develop
proper footwork, hand positioning, and timing to build a strong
foundation in the sport, and especially teamwork is very important.
Q3: What advice would you give to coaches working with elementary
volleyball players?
Mrs. Trugillo: Coaches should focus on creating a fun and inclusive
atmosphere where players feel motivated to learn and improve. It’s
essential to provide constructive feedback, encouragement, and
opportunities for players to develop both their skills and their love for the
sport. Building confidence, sportsmanship, and a passion for volleyball at
a young age can have a lasting impact on their future in the game.
Mrs. Love Jean Trugillo made sure her colleagues were upbeat and
inspired by a defeat. She underlined the value of learning from mistakes
and using them as teaching moments. Mrs.Love Jean Trugillo promoted
candid communication among the group members, giving them a
platform to air their grievances and offer helpful criticism. Her players
were able to recover and perform even better in the subsequent games
because of her unfailing support and faith in them.
Chellsy Blaire T. Pradas, a volleyball team member, talked about her
experiences with the sport. She talked about how much she loves
volleyball and how much joy it offers her. She likes the sense of unity
and camaraderie that come with being a member of a team. What she
loves most about playing volleyball is the competitive edge and the
chance to show off her skills on the court. These are the interview
questions and answers that I get for my interview:
Q1: What is your feeling right now?
Answer: Happy, and even though we lose the game, I’m happy that we
made it to the provincial meet.
Q2: What do you enjoy most about playing volleyball?
Answer: I love the teamwork aspect of volleyball. It’s so much fun
working together with my teammates to score points and win games.
Q3:What advice would you give to someone who wants to start playing
volleyball?
Answer: I would tell them to practice as much as they can and never
give up. Volleyball can be challenging at first, but with determination and
hard work, they can improve and have a great time playing the sport.
The elementary women’s volleyball team, led by Mrs. Love Jean
Trugillo, demonstrated their abilities and tenacity throughout the
competition, even if they did not take home the title. Their run to the
semi-final’s was evidence of their diligence and commitment. The
squad’s performance and the coach’s encouragement and support have
definitely had a lasting effect on their volleyball journey.
In conclusion, interviewing both the coach and the player of the
volleyball team provided valuable insights into the dynamics of the sport.
The coach’s perspectives shed light on strategic planning, training
methods, and overall team management, highlighting the dedication and
passion required to lead a successful team. On the other hand, the
player’s experiences and reflections gave a personal touch to the
narrative, showcasing the hard work, challenges, and triumphs faced on
the court. By combining these two viewpoints, a comprehensive
understanding of the teamwork, discipline, and camaraderie involved in
volleyball was achieved, emphasising the importance of communication,
leadership, and perseverance in achieving common goals. Overall, the
interviews offered a holistic view of the sport, encapsulating the essence
of determination, unity, and sportsmanship in the world of volleyball.
