Autumn is one of the four temperature seasons. It's a

period of time between summer and winter, when

nature prepares itself for this change. Temperatures

drop in comparison to the hot summer weather and

much more rainfall can be expected. It starts between

September 21st and 24th, on the September equinox

and ends on 21st or 22nd December with the winter

solstice. Autumn is associated with holidays like

Halloween, Guy Fawkes Night or Thanksgiving. Some of

these celebrate the harvest at the end of the summer.

For many people autumn also represents the feeling of

melancholia, when the winter is on the horizon,

darkness comes and warm days of summer are gone.

For students, the start of this season is also the start of

the new school year.
