Chapter 1: The Village Meeting

1) Why was the Stranger looking for a hotel? Because, it was late and he was believed the
Village.
2) What was the date? It was 31st October, 1964.
3) What was the most beautiful building in Woodend? Did the stranger go to see it? The
most beautiful building was a church but the stranger didn’t want to see it.
4) What did the village ladies think about the stranger? They thought that he was a good
looking man.
5) The stranger came back to Woodend a few weeks later. What was he looking for? He
looked a house for sold it.
6) What surprised the villagers on the morning of Monday, 21 st December? They saw a big
sign with these words “the corner shop proprietor: Dave Slatin”.
