COMPARATIVES AND SUPERLATIVES


a. What are they?
1. Adjectives are words that give us more information about a noun or a pronoun.
2. Comparative adjectives compare one person or thing with another. They let us say to
say if a person or thing has more or less of a particular quality:
 The dog runs faster than the tortoise.
 The tortoise is slower than the dog.
3. Superlative adjectives describe one person or thing as having more of a quality than all
other people or things in a group:
 My dog is the fastest runner of all the other dogs.
 That tortoise is the slowest animal in the room.

Don’t forget to add ‘the’ before the superlative.
