She is athletic but poor at ball sports and is involved in acting.

Personality
Shizuku is a sweet, polite, level-headed and mature honor
student. She is considered a traditional Japanese beauty, and
is quite timid at times.
As seen in the Niji-Yon 4koma, she likes dogs. Shizuku can be
easy to tease, however she is able to stand up for herself and
others if teasing goes too far. She can sometimes be observed
giving a stern talking-to to Kasumi, someone who is the
opposite of Shizuku in terms of maturity.

Due to her responsible nature, Shizuku is also inclined to take

on too much responsibility and keep her thoughts to herself.
She worries about things quite often.

Shizuku is passionate about acting, and is very skilled at

getting into character. She is also a fan of old movies and
novels since she was little. However, this passion leaded her
to be anxious because she felt she was the only child who
liked these things.

Clubs and Hobbies

Shizuku enjoys acting and performing in plays, and is a
member of the school's theater club. During her days off she
might spend 4 hours on personalized voice training, and on
occasion might also imagine various ideas for plays that can
be performed with the other girls. Shizuku has brainstormed
fantasy scripts for The North Wind and the Sun from Aesop's
Fables, and The Tale of Princess Kaguya.

Kasumi Nakasu is a main character in Love Live! Nijigasaki

High School Idol Club. She is a first year student of Nijigasaki
High School. She is a member of QU4RTZ, a unit under the
reformed Nijigaku and is a co-founder of both groups. Her

Background
Kasumi had always dreamed of becoming an idol. Upon
entering Nijigasaki, Kasumi would go on to join the School Idol
Club as its most passionate member. But when the club fell
into disarray, Kasumi's dreams never took off, and she would
soon begin to doubt herself. Her sole presence in the club
room would serve as a reminder that the School Idol Club has
seen better days. Nevertheless, Kasumi still believes in the
club and is determined to keep the dream alive. She would
continue to strive to become a school idol and hopes to once
again participate in club activities, especially with a senpai
she adores. Along with Karin Asaka and Setsuna Yuki, she
works with Dengeki Online.

Personality
Although slightly self-centered and mischievous, Kasumi is a
kind, friendly and lively girl who loves all things cute, and her
love for idols is unrivaled in strength and inspiration. Kasumi
wants to be number one in any competition she's in, and often
resorts to cheating or even sabotage to achieve that goal. As a
consequence, she is a sore loser whenever she achieves
anything other than first place.
She hates the nickname Kasukasu (かすかす) which roughly
translates to "just barely" or "not quite", and gets in a bad
mood when referred to with it.

Kasumi spends a lot of her time scheming or thinking up new

ways to ensure her own victory; however, these plans often
fail or aren't as devious as she thinks.

Kasumi can also be considerate of her fellow idols and is seen

doing things to cheer them up or to be nice to them. For
example, she tries to rile up the group when Ayumu Uehara is
nervous before their live, and exchanges genuine Christmas
gifts with the Dengeki Online group.

Clubs and Hobbies

She enjoys making bread and watching idol videos. Her
favorite school subjects are science and home economics, but
she dislikes classical literature and history. On her days off,
Kasumi will typically spend 2-3 hours baking bread, 3-4 hours
watching videos, and utilize one hour of jogging. She would
also devote an hour after 9pm to activities that are kept
"secret" to anybody but herself.[1]

Background
In ALL STARS story, she was invited to be a school idol by

Personality
Rina is not good at conveying emotions on her face. Because
of this, she makes use of the "Rina-chan Board", a sketchbook
that she draws her emotions on. Rina is also friends with Mia,
who met her in Chapter 22 of ALL STARS.

Despite her flaws, Rina is still trying to change herself by

communicating and talking more with her friends. She admires
Ai for her confidence and friendliness. Rina gets nervous easily
but continues to try her best.

As a school idol, she hopes that people will cheer for her so
she can show everyone her true smile.

Rina is really good with technology and "creating things". She
wears the "Auto Emotion Convert Rina-chan Board" on stage
and other activities that require both hands. She's often seen
with gadgets such as a quadcopter or just working on a tablet
or laptop. She makes and enjoys talking about apps. She has a
pet robot cat named Aran (アラン).

She often shows a strong interest in science. She excels in

Sciences and Math but struggles with her Japanese class.

Background
Shioriko is the second daughter of the prestigious and wealthy
Mifune family. She challenges Setsuna Yuki for the position
of student council president by initiating a re-election because
she is dissatisfied with Setsuna's leadership. Shioriko believes
that students should do things they can succeed at rather than
follow their passions. She states that if she wins, she will
disband the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.

Personality
Shioriko is described as calm and academically gifted. She
values Japanese tradition and has been trained in traditional
dance and flower arranging. She has a talent for identifying
people's strengths and weaknesses, and uses this to help
students at Nijigasaki High School succeed in their club
activities by offering advice. Although people are initially
upset upon hearing her suggestions, they become thankful
when it leads to them succeeding. And despite her somewhat
stiff demeanor and lack of self-expression, Shioriko often
yearns to connect with others, deep down.

Clubs and Hobbies

As of Chapter 9 of the Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL
STARS story, Shioriko is the Nijigasaki High School student
council president, succeeding Setsuna. She spends time
interacting more with the members of Nijigasaki, allowing her
to understand their fulfilment of being idols despite other
talents. In Chapter 17 of the main story, Shioriko officially
joins the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club as its 11th member
and 10th school idol. She enjoys using her spare time
volunteering, and can be seen interacting with kids at the
children's center, or picking up litter around the neighborhood.

Background

She has known her neighbor since she was a child, and
considers her to be her big sister. Because both of her parents
work at her family's restaurant, she was mostly raised by her
grandmother.

Personality
As a suggestible, friendly and sociable person who's always
willing to help. Ai has a lot of friends who can be seen chatting
with strangers at any given time. She is also very caring,
especially with her family and friends. In the neighborhood she
lives, she tends to refer to all sorts of people around as
siblings.
Because she is a gyaru, she can be mistaken as the type to
skip school or be rebellious. However, she has very good
grades and is very fun-loving and nice, but she can be a bit
loud and sometimes serves as a mood-maker to her fellow
idols.

Ai tends to speak very casually, using a lot of slang. She is

also known for her puns, many of which are not very funny to
those around her. She easily laughs at bad puns, too, as she
has a rather childish sense of humor.

Despite Ai having a flawless image in school and being very

popular, Ai is very down-to-earth and does not perceive herself
as better than others, especially her fellow school idols. She
even seems unaware of her reputation, as she never pretends
to be someone she isn't, nor is she conscious of whatever
image she is giving off. In fact, contrary to her "cool" and
"popular" image, Ai's frequent use of puns can sometimes
come off as so lame that the other members react with visible
exasperation.

Typical of a gyaru, Ai likes fashion and mobile app/games. She
also likes candy and sometimes carries extra with her.

Ai is excellent at both academics and sports. Due to her

proficiency in nearly every activity possible, her openness to

attitude, she is the type of girl to have friends in every club,

able to sing or dance, Ayumu would nevertheless venture on to
become a school idol herself.

Personality
Ayumu is a hardworking girl that puts her everything into what
she does. She does not believe she is very skilled in her school
idol activities, but she continues to try her hardest to excel in
them. She is generally insecure in her abilities. Her struggles
revolve largely on confidence and how that relates to her
pathway to her dream as a school idol. This is illustrated by
both her solos songs and the Nijigasaki anime.

She is kind, innocent, and sincere, often responding to the

mischief from Karin Asaka and Kasumi Nakasu in a pure
manner, which throws the two of them off-guard. However, she
doesn't do this intentionally and is truly a pure-hearted girl.
She tries her best to be helpful to others.

She can also be rather clumsy at times.

Setsuna Yuki, whose real name is Nana Nakagawa (中川

菜々 Nakagawa Nana), is a main character in Love Live!
Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. She is a second year student
of Nijigasaki High School. She is a member of A・ZU・NA, a
unit under the reformed Nijigaku, and is the leader and co-
founder of the original group. Her image color is scarlet red.

Background
When Setsuna saw school idols for the first time, it felt as if
"fate" was calling out to her; the very reason for becoming a
school idol herself. Seemingly always busy with school idol
activities, Setsuna had become somewhat of an urban legend
among the students at Nijigasaki, with many claiming they had
never even seen her at school. Setsuna would always wear her
idol outfit whenever she is with the Nijigasaki High School Idol
Club.

But the girl that everyone knew as "Setsuna Yuki" had actually
adopted that name herself, so that her parents would not
figure out she was an idol. Setsuna had come from a strict
household, where things like anime, manga, and school idols
are banned. One reason why she became an urban legend is
linked to the fact that she attends the same school as Nana
Nakagawa, who has a different appearance than Setsuna.

Along with Karin Asaka and Kasumi Nakasu, she works with
Dengeki Online. The name "Setsuna Yuki" came from the
characters of a light novel Nana read.

Personality
Setsuna has an energetic smile and a distinctive style of
performing. She's very friendly, charismatic and naturally
people-oriented. She is easily excitable and full of energy, and
she can be moved emotionally very easily. She lights up
whenever she is asked a question about her interests, which
include anime, manga, video games, and school idols.

She takes her passions very seriously, and with regards to

being a school idol, always wants to improve. She wants to
share her love of school idols with the world, and help others
feel more comfortable saying what they love, but she can be
too passionate about idol activities, the reason that drove the
members of the original School Idol Club apart and forcing her
to disband the club afterwards.

As Nana, she also strives to do well in school, so she always

does homework as soon as possible and studies on her off
days.

Setsuna is also very kind and helpful, and is shown to be very

supportive of her friends. For example, in the Dengeki 4-koma,
she continued to eat Kasumi's spicy bread in order to not let
her down since she cooked it for her and Karin. She tries to
encourage everyone to pursue their dreams and is open to
helping others with their dancing and singing.

Clubs and Hobbies

Despite not being good at it, she likes cooking, but when she
asks how it tastes, she never gets an answer. Some of her
friends say that her cooking's taste is "a bit too original".

She likes everything involving school idols and is very

knowledgeable about them. She likes every subject in school
except health class.

Setsuna is very interested in anime, manga, and video games.

She can get very excited and talk at length about anime
concepts and her favorite series. During weekends, Setsuna
might consume about five hours of anime throughout the day
and spend about three hours playing video games.

Setsuna is the student council president of Nijigasaki High

School as Nana Nakagawa, although she loses her position
to Shioriko Mifune in chapter nine of the School Idol Festival
ALL STARS story.

Lanzhu Zhong is a upcoming main character in Love Live!

Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. She is a second year student
of Nijigasaki High School. She recently transferred from Hong
Kong and can speak Mandarin and Cantonese fluently.

In Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS, she is a member

of R3BIRTH, a unit under the reformed Nijigaku and was the
leader and co-founder of the Association. Her image color is
rose gold.

Background
Lanzhu applied to Nijigasaki with her good friend Mia Taylor.
She is childhood friends with Shioriko Mifune, who is the
current student council president.

She was first introduced in Chapter 19 of the Love Live!

School Idol Festival ALL STARS story and since Chapter 20,
she is the leader of the Association, which she created as a
way to help the members of the Club, which she admires
greatly, to improve by working with professionals she hired.
She initially banned the Club in order to force its members to
join the Association but later allowed it to exist again in
parallel with it until the latter's subsequent dissolution in
Chapter 28.

In Chapter 29, Lanzhu apologizes to the Protagonist about her

previous actions and officially joins the School Club as its 13th
member and 12th school idol alongside Mia.[1]
Personality
Since she was a kid, Lanzhu was treated as a gifted girl due to
her noticeable talents in many fields. However, this generated
insecurity in her as she was always eventually left by others
because she was treated as "special" and not as an equal
among her peers.

Despite showing herself as a charismatic girl, her unique

personality tends to catch others off guard by how demanding
she can be with them so that they achieve excellent results
like her, which leads her to make questionable decisions and
to treat people in a way that usually makes them feel insulted.
Even so, she doesn't hesitate to seek every possible way to
befriend others.

Appearance
Lanzhu has a slim figure. She has long pinkish platinum-
colored hair that she styles into tied pigtails on both sides of
her head and light greyish blue eyes. She has a beauty mark
under her right eye.

Trivia
 Lanzhu fulfills the cool attribute of the Nijigaku second
years, along with Setsuna Yuki, making them a rare case
where two girls from the same year/school share an
attribute. This is seen in All Stars where she wears the
cool costume.
 Lanzhu is the first character in the Love Live! franchise to
sing a trilingual and tetralingual song.
 In SIFAS Chapter 26, it's revealed that Lanzhu is just as
bad at cooking as Setsuna.
 Lanzhu has similar features to Kotori Minami:
 Both are second year students.
 Their mothers are chairwomen in their respective
schools.
 Curiously, despite Cantonese being the most commonly
spoken language in Hong Kong, the songs Lanzhu sang in
contain way more Mandarin than Cantonese.
 In her signature, she stylistically spells her name as
"L'ange", meaning "the angel" in French.
 Prior to the confirmation of her potential appearance in
the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club anime's second
 season, a leaked listing of the 6th Capsule Rubber Mascot
line indirectly supported this hypothesis, as Lanzhu is
drawn wearing the anime-styled bowtie.

Personality
Karin is very mature and gives off a rather seductive vibe. She
uses her adult-like looks to her advantage, such as when she
tries to tease her underclassmen. She also teaches others
how to be sexy and cool like her. However, these lessons
sometimes backfire when people begin to show her significant
attention or respond in a pure manner, as Karin will become
embarrassed.

She states she doesn't like being around many people, and
used to be a little bit standoffish at the beginning of the first
season, but is nevertheless genuinely kind and friendly.
Despite her teasing attitude, she is rather innocent and has a
somewhat naive side to her personality.

Sometimes, Karin is a bit more childish and nervous than

usual, which she dislikes, but she manages to keep up her
cool demeanor most of the time.

Because of her modeling activities taking most of her time, her

grades are below average and she has difficulties waking up in

Background
Emma hails from Switzerland, and like the tranquil and
majestic landscapes of the Swiss Alps, possesses a heart that
is just as gentle and glowing. Coming from a family with eight
younger siblings, she would leave her home country to pursue
becoming a school idol in Japan, eventually transferring
to Nijigasaki High School. She shares a dorm with Karin
Asaka, whom she develops a close friendship with.

She uses the Italian word "Buono" (meaning "good") when

introducing herself, which indicates that she is from the
Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, which includes
the canton (Swiss Confederation member state) of Ticino and
some southern parts of Grisons. Her family name "Verde"
means "green" in Italian.
Along with Shizuku Osaka and Kanata Konoe, Emma works
with the Love Live! School idol festival app, where the three
of them originally appeared as N-rarity characters. She
formerly attended the Y.G. International Academy.

Personality
Emma is a kind and easygoing girl with a healing nature. She
is very cheerful, pleasant, and tries to look after the other
idols. She aims to be encouraging and to help others smile.

Like Shizuku, Emma tends to keep her worries to herself

because she doesn't want others to worry about her. She gets
nervous easily.

Having 8 siblings back home, she can relate to Kanata on the

joys of being an older sister. Her family regularly sends her
video letters so they can stay connected and on weekends,
Emma will typically spend an hour chatting with them via
webcam.

In an All Stars bond episode, she reveals that her dream to

become a school idol was the reason why she studied
Japanese and eventually came to Japan. She first learned
about them after seeing a TV show about them in Switzerland
on a night where a snowstorm meant she had to spend the
night alone. Her pursuit of her dream has also allowed her to
combat being homesick.

It was also revealed in All Stars that she met Mai Natsukawa,
an idol who sings the song Emma heard as a child that
inspired her to be a school idol. The song Aion no Uta is
originally a song by one of Mai's seniors which was passed
down to her. Mai performed the song during her last concert as
an idol.

Clubs and Hobbies

In her free time, Emma enjoys going on outdoor expeditions
that include woodland walks and playing in the river, often
packing a lunch with her and spending upwards of 7 hours
being surrounded by nature.
She enjoys quilting as well. Emma also has a pet goat named
Neve.

Emma likes food, especially bread crusts. In an All

Stars story scene, she narrowly bests Hanayo Koizumi in a
dumpling eating contest after both she and Hanayo ask for
their favorite foods (bread and rice respectively) as side
dishes, sustaining their appetite.

Kanata Konoe is a main character in Love Live! Nijigasaki

High School Idol Club. She is a third year student of Nijigasaki
High School. She is a member of QU4RTZ, a unit under the
reformed Nijigaku and was a co-founder of the original group.
Her image color is violet.

Background
Kanata is known as the group's "sleeping beauty", Kanata has
the uncanny ability to somehow relax anybody in her
presence. She formerly attended Shinonome Academy and has
a younger sister named Haruka. Along with Shizuku
Osaka and Emma Verde, Kanata works with the Love Live!
School idol festival app.

Kanata attends Nijigasaki on a scholarship, so she studies

really hard at night everyday, thus her sleep deprivation.

Personality
Kanata is often seen as being very sleepy and often takes
naps during the day. She is very easygoing and prone to
napping in the laps of others, although in the Niji-Yon 4-koma
series she seems to like Emma's lap the most. She also carries
a pillow around with her at school.

At times, she will appear to be sleeping but is actually awake

and listening to what's going on around her.

Despite seeming always tired, Kanata is motivated as a school

idol by her younger sister and others' praise. She often
mentions her dream of being able to take a nap with the
audience during a performance. Kanata loves being doted on,
but is also very sisterly and capable of looking after others.
She loves being a big sister, and tends to look after the other
idols in various, little ways. Kanata can be very diligent in
matters that are important to her. Her grades are good despite
her sleepiness.

Clubs and Hobbies

She is skilled at cooking, and the best cook in the club. She is
a member of the Health Committee. It is revealed in Season 1
Episode 7 that Kanata works part-time as a grocery store
clerk at a shopping center named SOROR.

Background
She was brought to Nijigasaki (more specifically "dragged") by
her friend Lanzhu Zhong. She was first introduced in Chapter
19 of Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS. Despite
coming from a family of esteemed musicians, Mia would much
rather prefer the life of a homebody and eat nothing but
burgers. Mia is considered a 'music prodigy' by Lanzhu; she
was an American college student before immediately
transferring into Nijigasaki as a third year due to her skills,
despite only being 14 years old.

In Chapter 29 of the main story, Mia officially joins the

Nijigasaki High School Idol Club as its 12th member and 11th
school idol alongside Lanzhu.

Appearance
Mia has a slim figure with boycut-styled platinum silver hair
and has grey eyes. She also has a visible silver rectangular
earring on her left ear.

Personality
Mia is a very straightforward and competitive girl, to the point
of declaring war on the player as a songwriter out of the blue.
However, her confidence is a façade and she actually tends to
feel insecure about her songs' quality compared to the
player's. At some point, she tried to determine why she felt
this way despite being convinced that her own songs were
better than the player's and went to discuss the other girl's
songwriting skills with Rina, who suggested she get closer
to the player in order to better understand her.

Notes and Trivia

General
 Mia fulfills the cool attribute of the Nijigaku third years, sharing both
an attribute and year with Karin Asaka. In All Stars, she fulfills the
pure attribute instead.
 She has an older sister.[1]
 She is the first main character in the franchise to have not be born in
Asia or Europe.
 Canonically to the franchise, she is the youngest school idol as of
2021.
 Her songs are greatly reminiscent to the English pop-songs in the
2000s.
  In the international release version of the game, Mia's profanity
("shit") has been inconsistently translated as "Dammit" despite being
spoken out loud from the original dialogue.
 The 26th chapter of the story shows that Mia isn't actually skilled on
cooking (such as not knowing how to make hot chocolate and using a
washing machine to wash vegetables) due to her lifestyle.
 Prior to the confirmation of her potential appearance in the Nijigasaki
High School Idol Club anime's second season, a leaked listing of the
6th Capsule Rubber Mascot line indirectly supported this hypothesis,
as Mia was drawn wearing the anime-styled bowtie.
 Mia is one of the seven girls to join a group after they debuted,
following Shioriko and joining with Lanzhu.
 This also happened with another group called Liella!, where four
new girls (Kinako Sakurakoji, Mei Yoneme, Shiki
Wakana, Natsumi Onitsuka) all joined the group after it formed,
making the group's consistent of nine members instead of just
five.
 She is one of the first characters in Love Live! to speak English and
use cuss words.
 Mia is the only character in the Nijigasaki High School Idol
Club anime to have her male parents shown on-screen.[2]

Yu Takasaki[1] is the primary protagonist in Love Live!

Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. She is a second year student
of Nijigasaki High School. She is the manager and co-founder
of the reformed Nijigaku. Her image color is black.
She also served as the adaptation's representation of the
player character in Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS.

Background
Yu is the budding school idol enthusiast of Nijigasaki High
School, and is often seen with her characteristic thigh-high
socks and twin-tails tips dyed green. She is Ayumu Uehara's
inseparable childhood friend, having grown up as neighbors in
the same apartment building near Odaiba. Eventually, the two
of them ended up at Nijigasaki together and are now
classmates. Yu's love for school idols blossomed after seeing
a performance of the legendary school idol, Setsuna Yuki.
Along with Ayumu, Yu's very first experience of school idols
that day would lead her to seek out Nijigasaki's School Idol
Club.
Personality
Yu adopted a lot of the player character's personality prior to
the anime. She is described as insightful, reliable, quick to
take action, and very caring of the Nijigasaki idols. She is
shown to have a deep passion for idols, which inspires her
goals and actions just like her game counterpart.

Yu has a slim figure with medium-length black hair with green
tips that she has tied into twintails and has green eyes.
