LORD, SPEAK TO MY HEART

TEXT:
Rom 8:16 (NLT),
"For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are
God’s children."

Our God loves to communicate with His people. Though He uses mediums such as
prophets, preachers and the Bible, He also speaks directly to our hearts. He is the
source of all communications both in the spiritual realm, in the human realm, and in the
animal kingdom! Present-day technologies of telecommunications are evidences of
God’s power to communicate with His people. The principle of using satellites for
communications is copied from the heavenly prototype of communications though the
discoverers and inventors may not realized it. But the one thing that’s so different
about spiritual communication is that God already knows what we’re going to say even
before we say them; but He still wants us to utter our requests because there must be
something powerful about utterance.

Because of our immaturity in the things of God we usually do all the talking and we
don’t know how to listen to His voice in our hearts.

He speaks to our hearts to give us assurance of our privilege as God's

children!

Rom 8:16 (NLT),

"For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are
God’s children."

He speaks to our hearts to assure us of our inheritance!

Rom 8:16 - Rom 8:17 (NLT),

"For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are
God’s children. And since we are his children, we will share his treasures—for
everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours, too. But if we are to share his
glory, we must also share his suffering."

Eph 1:14 (NLT),

"The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us everything he promised
and that he has purchased us to be his own people. This is just one more
reason for us to praise our glorious God."

1
He speaks to our hearts of warning and promise!

Rev 2:7 (KJV),

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; to
him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst
of the paradise of God."

Seven times in Revelation it was mentioned, "He that hath an ear, let him hear
what the Spirit saith unto the churches..." Each church received the same
admonition. He that has opened his spiritual hearing can hear the voice of the Spirit in
his heart.

Note also that our victory, our overcoming is vitally connected to our hearing the voice
of the Spirit, "... He that overcometh..." If we don't listen to and don't obey His voice
then that's the reason for our defeat!

The Bible and personal experiences tell us that God speaks to our hearts...!

He speaks to our hearts of instructions!

Heb 3:7 - Heb 3:8 (KJV),

"Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden
not your hearts,"

1Sa 6:6 (KJV),

"Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh
hardened their hearts? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, did
they not let the people go, and they departed?" 1Sa 6:6 (NLT),
"Don’t be stubborn and rebellious as Pharaoh and the Egyptians were. They
wouldn’t let Israel go until God had ravaged them with dreadful plagues."

HOW GOD SPEAKS TO PEOPLE?

- Dreams and Night Visions

Job 33:14 - Job 33:16 (NLT),

"But God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He
speaks in dreams, in visions of the night when deep sleep falls on people as
they lie in bed. He whispers in their ear and terrifies them with his warning."

(Brother Rey Palarca’s dream before he died…) God prefers dreams over audible voices
to speak to us because our physical sense of hearing can be easily deceived and get
confused because we already are hearing a lot of things while we are awake; whereas,
when we are asleep our sense of physical hearing is shut off and He can now speak in

our spirits. That way He can directly speak to us without any disturbance from the
outside world. O how many times that God had spoken to us in our dreams! He spoke
to Nebuchadnezzar in a dream to show him the future. He spoke to Pharaoh in a
dream to warn him of a severe famine and to ultimately save His people Israel from
annihilation…

- When we allow the Spirit of God to control us; and that would lead us to
real worship!

Eph 5:18 - Eph 5:19 (NLT),

"Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the
Holy Spirit fill and control you. Then you will sing psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts."

The ministry of the Holy Ghost in our hearts precedes real worship!

- In Church Gatherings through Prophecies...

Acts 13:2 - Acts 13:4 (KJV),

"As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me
Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when
they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them
away. So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia;
and from thence they sailed to Cyprus."

- Through the Preaching of the Word...

Heb 4:12 (KJV),

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged
sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the
joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
heart."

We're not here just to listen to the preacher but first and foremost listen to the voice of
the Holy Ghost!

Ask God to give you sensitivity to the voice of the Spirit. This must be one of our
urgent requests right now! "Lord speak to my heart."

Establish a resolve in your heart to obey God rather than men!

Obey the voice of the Holy Ghost instead of the voice of your passions!

The greatest mistake that we can commit is ignoring the voice of the Spirit.

Our aim in every worship service is not just to have a good service... But to aim the aim
of the Spirit of God to touch us and to speak to our hearts!

Lord, speak to my heart.

Let's dedicate this time to really listen to the voice of God in our hearts. Can we do that
today?
