Warm greetings to all on the behalf of Christian Youth Society (CYS), Guwahati.

We
thank the Lord and the TBCG Magazine Committee for giving us this opportunity to
share few words with our fellow church members.

Nelson Mandela once stated – “The youths of today are the leaders of tomorrow”.
The youths of the society play a pivotal role in its progress and therefore the
members of Tangkhul Baptist Church, Guwahati felt a need for a platform to reach
out to the Tangkhul Christian youths living in the city. With that goal in mind the CYS
was set up in 2015 based on the theme "Walking the faith" (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Since its inception, the CYS has played a significant role in reaching out and
connecting the youths scattered across the city through programs like Youth Service,
musical night, youth camp and youth retreat. The Youth Service is conducted in
Pillangkata Community hall and Maligaon community hall alternatively, every 2nd and
4th Saturday of the month. It provides the youths an important platform to not only
listen to God’s word but also be inspired by each other’s testimonies as well as hone
their public speaking skills.

The annual Youth Camp/Retreat is one of the most important activities organised by
the CYS. Eminent speakers, well-versed in the Word of God, are invited to teach and
counsel the youths. The Youth camp of 2022 was held from 28th-30th October and
was based on the theme “Be Found in Him” (Philipian 3:9). Speakers for the camp
included – Rev. Dr. Mathanmi Zimik (Pastor,TCD); Dr. Keweralo Lohe (Consultant,
Kingdom Volunteer movement); Rev. Dr. Worthem Vashum (Pastor, TBCG); and Mr.
Songaning Shimrang (Associate Pastor, TBCG). It was a blessed time of learning
and fellowship with one another as well as an opportunity to recommit one’s life to
Christ during the altar call.

Being a part of CYS is also a great way to serve the church as the CYS volunteers
and helps in organising many activities of the church. It not only enhances the
smooth functioning of the church but also deepens camaraderie between fellow
youths.

The time of our youth is one of the most crucial phases of our life. It marks the
threshold where we step into the society as men and women. Therefore, the manner
in which we build ourselves up, the values we inculcate and the decisions we take at
this stage of our lives will greatly affect the kind of life that we live ahead.

As its is written in Mathew 6:33 "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His
Righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”. The CYS is composed of
like-minded youths that seek to put God first and foremost in their lives. We inspire
and support one another to grow as God-fearing youths.

As King Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 11 reminds us,” Remember

now your Creator in the days of your youth”, we would like to encourage our fellow
youths to be an active member of the CYS and serve God in whatever capacity you
are able. We would also like to take this time to remind the campers of Youth Camp
2022 of the upcoming camp reunion set to take place in January.
