A. BACKGROUND
Myamnar have over a Seventy percent of it’s population lives in rural parts of the country, encompassing three-
quarters of the overall poverty share. But as the largest country in mainland Southeast Asia, Myanmar has one
of the lowest population densities in the region. Combined with highly fertile lands, the country has significant
potential to increase its production and profits in agriculture. with a diverse landscape that includes both urban
and rural areas. Rural areas in Myanmar are predominantly found in the countryside, where agriculture is the
primary source of income for the majority of the population. These areas are characterized by their lush
landscapes, traditional villages, and unique cultural practices. And with the participation of Myanmar in
ASEAN this has encourage us more than ever to cooperate and work for an equal development accros our
country.

B.POSITION
Myanmar has been focusing and support the issue on rural modernization as part of its broader development
strategy to reduce poverty and improve the living standards of its rural population. The government recognizes
the importance of rural development in achieving sustainable economic growth and has implemented various
policies and programs to promote modernization in rural areas.

C.APPROACH
Myanmar's approach to rural modernization focuses on a multi-faceted strategy that involves various sectors
and stakeholders to promote sustainable economic growth and improve the living conditions of rural
communities. The government, along with international organizations, non-governmental organizations
(NGOs), and the private sector, work together to implement policies and programs that address the diverse
needs of rural areas.

Some key aspects of Myanmar's approach to rural modernization include:

1. Holistic Development: Myanmar recognizes that rural modernization requires a comprehensive approach
that addresses multiple aspects, such as agriculture, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and financial
inclusion. This holistic approach aims to create a conducive environment for rural development and
improve the overall quality of life for rural populations.

equitable distribution of development benefits across the country and create a better quality of life for its rural
population. Some specific goals of rural modernization in Myanmar include:

healthcare, education, and clean water.

that increase productivity and reduce the use of resources.
 Promote sustainable agriculture practices, such as organic farming and agroforestry, to ensure long-term
environmental sustainability.
 Strengthen extension services and provide training programs for farmers to adopt modern farming practices
and improve their skills.

2. Infrastructure Development:

 Develop comprehensive rural infrastructure plans that prioritize road networks, electricity, water supply,
