STANDARD OPEARTING PROCEDURE FOR MAINTENANCE OF CIRCUIT

BREAKER - LOW TENSION (LT) CIRCUIT BREAKER.

A: Observations prior to shut down


- Visual inspections for any damages / missing parts if any. (External)
- Position of ACB: Service / test, Spring charging & Mechanical ON
/OFF indication. Functionality checks of all indicating lamps,
push buttons and micrologic.
B: Post shut down activities:
- Carry out Earth discharge.
- Racking out the Circuit breaker.
- Inspect moving and stationary contacts for condition, wear, and alignment.
- Visual inspections for any damages for fixed and moving contact.
- Cleaning thoroughly all moving and fixed components.
- Inspect for loose, broken, worn, or missing parts. (Internal)
- Cleaning mechanism and current carrying components, insulating components
with cleaning agent & dry cloth.
- Cleaning of dust, spider web, foreign particles etc. of all equipment’s which
includes Horizontal Bus, Vertical Bus, and Auxiliary & Feeder bus with cleaning
agent.
- Inspect for signs of overheating on current carrying & insulating components
(Contact Jaws, Cradle Terminals & Terminal support or any physical damage.
- Ensure that all contacts are clean, smooth, and in proper alignment.
- Lubrication of all mobile joints.
- Tightness check of all joints in Circuit breaker.
- Check for mechanical operations.
- Operational check for ON/OFF & Trip on Insertion in Service position.

C: Electrical test.
- Insulation resistance test.
- Corban impression test.
