PROCEDURE Approved :
8. Cleaning the unit properly with soft cotton and hot air blower.
9. Checking tension of various springs physically for proper functioning.
10. Checking for proper functioning of breaker mechanism.
11. Re-greasing the same with grease recommended particularly for breaker.
12. Checking the conditions of insulated parts.
13. Checking /providing of missing hardware and tighting of hardware.
14. Checking alignment of all positions.
15. Checking and cleaning of earth terminal.
16. Inspect moving and stationary contacts for condition, wear, and alignment.
17. Verify that primary and secondary contact wipe and other dimensions vital to satisfactory
operation of the breaker are correct.
18. Perform all mechanical operator and contact alignment tests on both the breaker and its
operating mechanism in accordance with manufacturer’s published data.
19. Inspect bolted electrical connections for high resistance by use of a low-resistance ohmmeter
20. Verify tightness of accessible bolted electrical connections by calibrated torque-wrench
method in accordance with manufacturer’s published data
21. Perform a thermographic survey.
22. Checking CT & PT
23. Verify racking mechanism operation.
24. Test functions of the trip unit by means of secondary injection.
25. Perform minimum pickup voltage test on shunt trip and close coils.
26. Verify correct operation of auxiliary features such as trip and pickup indicators, zone
interlocking, electrical close and trip operation, trip-free, antipump function, and trip unit
battery condition.
27. Reset all trip logs and indicators.
28. Verify operation of charging mechanism.
B.VCB Racking-In to TEST Position Operation Sequence.
1. While racking-in VCB to test position, ensure the racking mechanism interlock handle in
latched / locked position.

STANDARD OPERATING Prepared :
PROCEDURE Approved :
2. Hold the Breaker handles & gently push the Breaker into panel.
3. Unlatch the racking mechanism interlock handle to lock the Breaker with panel.
4. Interlock plate goes into the slots provided at the side of the panel. These handle operate left
to right in horizontal plane.
5. Breaker is now in TEST Position.
C.VCB Racking Out to Disconnected Position Operation Sequence.
6. While racking out VCB to Disconnected position, Pull the Interlock Plates and latch the
Handle.
7. Hold the Breaker handles & gently pull the Breaker out of panel.
8. Now the Breaker is in DISCONNECTED Position
D.Test Values – Visual and Mechanical
29. Compare bolted connection resistance values to values of similar connections. Investigate
values which deviate from those of similar bolted connections by more than 50 percent of the
lowest value.
30. Settings shall comply with coordination study recommendations.
31. Operations counter should advance one digit per close-open cycle.
32. Insulation-resistance values of breakers should be in accordance with manufacturer’s
published data. Values of insulation resistance less than the manufacturer’s recommendations
should be investigated.
33. Micro or dc mill volt drop values should not exceed the high levels of the normal range as
indicated in the manufacturer’s published data.
34. Pickup values and trip characteristic should be as specified and within manufacturer’s
published tolerances.
35. Minimum pickup voltage on shunt trip and close coils should be in accordance with
manufacturer’s published data.
D. Electrical Test.
