PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE OF SYNCHRONIZING PANEL

A. Coordination
1. MHIESP secured a work permit and discussed related concerns on the equipment.
1.1. Discussion with the owner representative related to the equipment and procedure of the maintenance work.

B. Maintenance Work

1. Prior to conduct maintenance

1.1 Coordinate and checked logbook of customer for their previous problem on the control panel during their operation.
1.2 Conduct test without load for the genset and synch panel in auto mode. Monitor and record any untoward problem.
2. Preparation for Inspection
2.1 Record the positions of all control switches and place the engine control switches in “Stop” position.
2.2 Depress the emergency stop push button.
2.3“OFF” MCB’s of all Synch Panel and cut-off the DC of Engine Control Panel.
2.4 Proceed with the inspection and maintenance listed below.
3. Inspection and Maintenance
3.1 Clean all dust and debris which could lead to future dielectric problems from the interior and exterior of the Synch Panel
with a vacuum cleaner or nonmetallic brush.
3.2 Inspect all internal components and wiring for signs of excessive heating or deteriorated insulation, especially at high stress
points such as door cables.
3.3 Instrument, Relays and other electrical components. Maintain each device according to the specific instructions shown
on the individual catalog. Inspect the devices and their contacts for any dust or dirt, wipe and clean if necessary.
3.4 Manually check mechanical moving parts such locks, doors, switch assemblies and interlock for any signs of abnormal wear.
Replace worn out parts if necessary.
3.5 Check "plug - in" relays for proper seating in sockets. Manually operate all circuit breakers two or three times, check
operation for any abnormalities. If possible correct defects found during inspection.
4. Torque and checking of busbar and other component related.
4.1 Physically check for tightness all electrical connections and re-torque if necessary. Inspect connections for any symptoms
which indicate that overheating or weakening of the insulation is in progress. Remove dust from the bus bars, connections,
supports and enclosure surface. Wipe with a clean cloth.
4.2 Checking of loose connection for grounding, CT, and PT terminals.
5. Protective Relay Test
5.1 Check relay specifications, settings and expected results for the relay types during various fault conditions.
5.2 Physical check of the components, clean the tapping point and the relay.
5.3 Inject the necessary parameters and record the result.
5.4 Analyze the results of testing and compare it to the expected response of relay. Record any abnormalities or discrepancies.
6. Air Circuit Breaker test
6.1 Drawn out ACB, conduct inspection and cleaning.
6.2 Check and inspect ACB for any mechanical failure.
6.3 Conduct mechanical operation and observe any problem, correct if possible.
6.4 Conduct trip test, insulation and contact resistance test, record all results.
7. After Inspection and Maintenance
7.1 Reconnect or “ON” all MCB’s of Synch Panel and Engine Control Panel.
7.2 Functionality test on the system with accordance to the system operation of the Control Panel.
7.3 Place all switches previously recorded position.
