PREGNANCY INDUCED HYPERTENSION

MEDICATIONS
Treatment of PIH depends on blood pressure levels, gestational age, presence of symptoms and associated
risk factors. (Kintiraki et al., 2015)

Methyldopa 0.5-3mg/day in 2 divided fatigue, depression, poor

Labetalol 200-1200mg/day p.o fatigue, lethargy, exercise
In 2-3 divided doses intolerance, sleep disturbance
and bronchoconstriction.
Nifedipine 10-30 mg p.o tachycardia, palpitations,
peripheral edema, headaches
and facial flushing.
Hydralazine 50–300 mg/d in 2–4 divided headache, nausea, flushing,
doses and palpitations.
Verapamil 800 mg tds p.o tachycardia, palpitations,
peripheral edema, headaches
and facial flushing.
