Computation of Integer
What is an integer?
Integers are natural numbers that are either positive, negative or neither, like zero.
Example
Addition of integers
When we add two numbers with the same signs the outcome will take the sign of both of the
numbers.
Example
4+2=6
When we add two integers with different signs we subtract the numbers and the answer will take
the sign of the larger number
Example
-6+3= -3
Subtraction of integers
When subtracting integers keep the first number, change the subtraction sign to addition and the
sign of the number that follows. After all of that is done apply the rules of addition.
Example
10-(-3)
=10+(+3)
=+13
Multiplication of integers
When we are multiplying two numbers with the same sign the answer will always be positive.
Example
-3 * -2 = 6
When we are multiplying two numbers with different signs, the answer will negative.
Example
-5 * 3 = -15
Division of integers
When we are dividing two numbers with the same sign the answer will always be positive.
Example
-4 / -2 = 2
When we are dividing two numbers with different signs, the answer will negative.
-12 / 3 = -4
