1 COMPANY BACKGROUND

1.1 Overview

Pakistan Agricultural Storage & Services Corporation Limited (PASSCO) is a leading grain
procurement and storage agency at National & International level. PASSCO was established in
1973 and commenced its operations in May, 1974. PASSCO is a Public Limited Company
(unlisted) formed under Companies Act 1913 (Now Companies Act 2017) and working under
the administrative control of Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Government of
Pakistan. 25% share capital is owned by Federal Government and remaining 75% is held with
Commercial Banks. Similarly 3 out of 9 directors including the Managing Director are
nominated by the Federal Government.
The major functions of PASSCO are:-

a) To maintain Strategic Reserve of wheat for Government of Pakistan;

b) To implement the federal government’s policy of Minimum Support Price for food grains,
especially wheat;
c) To stabilize price of food grains by intervening in the market when called upon;
d) To provide food grains to food deficit provinces & agencies; and
e) To import and export food grains on the directions of Federal Government.

Our Mission is to become one of the most valued Corporations in the country and for this
purpose, PASSCO has initiated process of energizing the organization in order to align its
working with corporate sector and to meet up the ever increasing challenges of the food
security.
