CALIFORNIA

Mount Saint Mary’s University (Los Angeles, CA) - Admissions Policy: Admits “any student
who was born female or who identifies as female.”

Scripps College (Claremont, CA) - Admissions Policy: Admits students “who report that the
sex currently listed on their birth certificate is female” or “self-identify as women.” Scripps does
not require “government issued documentation to verify sex or gender identity.” This admissions
policy began in fall 2016.

GEORGIA

Agnes Scott College (Decatur, GA) - Admissions Policy: Admits “students who were assigned
female at birth, as well as those who were assigned male or female at birth but who now identify
as female, transgender, agender, gender fluid or non-binary.” The college also admits men to
some programs. According to its student body diversity page, about 2.4% of students are men.

Brenau University (Gainesville, GA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women and men. Brenau
University is co-ed. Its Women’s College accepts women and students who “self-identify” as
women, a spokesman told Advocate in 2015.

Spelman College (Atlanta, GA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women and “students who
consistently live and self-identify as women, regardless of their gender assignment at birth.” The
college will not admit transgender men, regardless of gender assignment at birth. However, if a
current student decides to transition or identify as male before graduation, then they can still
remain at Spelman and obtain their degree.

Wesleyan College (Macon, GA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women and “applicants who live
and identify as women, regardless of biological sex, or who were assigned female at birth and
identify as nonbinary or gender non-conforming if they feel they belong at a women’s college.”

INDIANA

Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, IN) - Admissions Policy: Admits women only.
MASSACHUSETTS

Bay Path University (Longmeadow, MA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as “any
qualified student … who identifies as a woman” because “traditional definitions of gender
continue to evolve.”

Mount Holyoke College (South Hadley, MA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as
“transgender and nonbinary students.”

Simmons University (Boston, MA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as “applicants
who consistently live and identify as women, and/or applicants who do not fit into the gender
binary but who feel they belong in our undergraduate community of women.” Female students
who transition to male during their time at Simmons are still eligible to receive their degree.

Smith College (Northampton, MA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as


self-identified “trans and nonbinary women.” “The applicant’s affirmation of identity is
sufficient.”

Wellesley College (Wellesley, MA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as “any
applicant who lives as a woman and consistently identifies as a woman; therefore, candidates
assigned male at birth who identify as women are eligible to apply for admission. Those assigned
female at birth who identify as men are not eligible for consideration for admission.”

MINNESOTA

College of Saint Benedict (St. Joseph, MN) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as
“gender nonconforming and transgender people.” This admissions policy was enacted in 2020.

St. Catherine University (St. Paul, MN) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as
individuals who identify as women “regardless of gender assigned at birth, as well as non-binary
and genderqueer students.” This admissions policy was issued in December 2018.

MISSOURI

Cottey College (Nevada, MO) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as “applicants who
are legally designated as female or who were assigned female at birth yet who do not identify
within the gender binary.” Any student who changes their gender identity while at Cottey is still
eligible for graduation. This admissions policy was enacted in October 2023.
Stephens College (Columbia, MO) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as “students
who are legally identified as female and who self-identify as women; students who document an
ongoing transition to female and who self-identify as women; and students who are legally
identified as female but do not fit within the gender binary. The program will not admit or enroll
students who self-identify as men or who are transitioning to male.” This admissions policy was
enacted in fall 2019.

NEBRASKA

College of Saint Mary (Omaha, NE) - Admissions Policy: Admits women only.

NEW YORK

Barnard College (New York City, NY) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as
“applicants who consistently live and identify as women, regardless of the gender assigned to
them at birth.” Barnard students who transition after enrollment are still eligible to graduate.

NORTH CAROLINA

Bennett College (Greensboro, NC) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as “all people
who identify as women.”

Meredith College (Raleigh, NC) - Admits women as well as “trans and non-binary” students,
according to The Meredith Herald student newspaper; however, it does not have an official
policy.

Salem College (Winston-Salem, NC) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as those who
identify as women. Any student who changes their gender identity during their undergraduate
education at Salem is still eligible to receive their degree.

PENNSYLVANIA

Bryn Mawr College (Bryn Mawr, PA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as
“transgender, non-binary and gender nonconforming students.” This admissions policy was
enacted in 2015.

Cedar Crest College (Allentown, PA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as anyone
who “self-identifies” as a woman. Once admitted and enrolled, a student may graduate from
Cedar Crest College regardless of gender identity.
Moore College of Art and Design (Philadelphia, PA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as
well as applicants “who self-identify as women, trans women, nonbinary, or gender
nonconforming individuals, at the time of the application.” This policy was instituted ahead of
the 2021-2022 academic year.

SOUTH CAROLINA

Converse University (Spartanburg, SC) - Admissions Policy: Converse College became


Converse University in fall 2020 and axed its single gender admissions requirement. Converse
now admits both women and men.

TEXAS

Texas Woman’s University (Denton, TX) - Admissions Policy: Admits women and men. TWU
became coeducational in 1972, 15 years after its founding, but 89% of students are women.

VIRGINIA

Hollins University (Roanoke, VA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as “applicants
who consistently live and identify as women, regardless of the gender assigned to them at birth.”
“Nonbinary” and “trans men” applicants are not eligible for admission because students must
“consistently live and identify as a woman.”

Sweet Briar College (Sweet Briar, VA) - Admissions Policy: Admits women only. A
spokeswoman for Sweet Briar College told Campus Reform that “Sweet Briar College accepts
qualified individuals whose birth certificates indicate they are female.”

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Trinity Washington University (Washington, DC) - Admissions Policy: No established policy,


but “welcomes trans students,” President Patricia McGuire told Inside Higher Ed in December.

WISCONSIN

Alverno College (Milwaukee, WI) - Admissions Policy: Admits women as well as “students
who consistently live and identify as women.”
