TRANSPHOBIA
-It describes someone who has hate, fear, or disgust for transgender people.

HOMOPHOBIA
-It is the fear, hatred, discomfort with, or mistrust of people who are lesbian, gay, or bisexual.

INTERSEX
-It is when a person is born with reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn't fit the boxes of
female or male.

SEXUAL ORIENTATION
-It is about to whom you have sexual or romantic feelings.

GENDER
-It refers to your sense of who you are as a guy, girl or something else, as opposed to what
your physical characteristics, genes and hormones indicate.

GENDER STEREOTYPE
-It is harmful when it limits women's and men's capacity to develop their personal abilities,
pursue their professional careers and/or make choices about their lives.

GENDER IDENTITY
-It is about how you identify yourself, regardless of your sexual orientation.

DAVID BARASH
-A psycho-biologist combines sociobiology with New Age platitudes when he writes that
"genes help themselves by being nice to themselves".

HETEROSEXUALITY
-It is romantic attraction, sexual attraction or sexual behaviour between people of the
opposite sex or gender.

GENDER DISCRIMINATION
-It is when someone is treated unequally or disadvantageously based on their gender but not
necessarily in a sexual nature.

SEXUALITY
-It refers to a person's capability of sexual feelings and their emotional and sexual attraction
to a particular sex.

GENDER ROLES
-It refers to society's concept of people are expected to look and behave appropriately
based on societally created norms for masculinity and femininity or related to their gender.
GENDER SOCIALIZATION
-It is the process by which individuals are taught how to socially behave in accordance with
their assigned gender, which is assigned at birth based on their biological sex.

GENDER EXPRESSION
-It is how you express or show your gender, by the way you dress, act, move or talk.

HETEROSEXISM
-It is a system of attitudes, bias, and discrimination in favor of female-male sexuality and
relationships.

GENDER DYSPHORIA
-It is a condition that describes the discomfort someone feels when their gender identity does
not match the gender they were assigned at birth.

GENDER ROLES (NAULIT)

-It is the socially acceptable behavior for people of a particular gender and age.

SEX
-It refers to physical or physiological differences between males and females.

BISEXUAL
-It is a romantic or sexual attraction or behavior toward both males and females, or to more
than one gender.

ASEXUAL
-It is if you have romantic feelings towards people but not sexually attracted.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

BADING
- Aslang term for “gay” in Tagalog, usually used pejoratively.

BAKLA
- ATagalog term for a person assigned male at birth whose gender expression is
feminine and who may identify as gay or as a woman; it can be used pejoratively as a
slur for an effeminate individual.

BAYOT
- A Cebuano term for a person assigned male at birth whose gender expression is
feminine and who may identify as gay or as a woman; it can be used pejoratively as a
slur for an effeminate individual.

GENDER IDENTITY
-A person’s internal, deeply felt sense of being female or male, neither, both, or
something other than female and male. A person’s gender identity does not
necessarily correspond to their sex assigned at birth.
GENDER-FLUID
- A descriptor for people whose gender fluctuates and may differ over time.

GENDER NON-CONFORMING
- A descriptor for people who do not conform to stereotypical appearances, behaviors,
or traits associated with their sex assigned at birth.
HOMOSEXUAL
- A sexual orientation in which a person’s primary sexual and romantic attractions are
toward people of the same sex.
LESBIAN
- A sexual orientation in which a woman is primarily sexually or romantically attracted to
other women.

LGBT
- An acronym to describe those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.
Panromantic A sexual orientation in which one’s romantic attraction is not restricted by sex
assigned at birth, gender, or gender identity.

SEXUAL ORIENTATION
- A person’s sense of attraction to, or sexual desire for, individuals of the same sex,
another sex, both, or neither.

TIBO
- A slang term for “lesbian” in Tagalog, usually used pejoratively.

TOMBOY
- A term for a person assigned female at birth whose gender expression is masculine
and who may identify as lesbian or as a man; it can be used pejoratively as a slur for
a masculine individual who was assigned female at birth.

TRANSGENDER
- The gender identity of people whose sex assigned at birth does not conform to their
identified or lived gender.

HETEROSEXISM
- discrimination or prejudice against gay people on the assumption that heterosexuality
is the normal sexual orientation.

HOMOPHOBIA
- Encompasses a range of negative attitudes and feelings toward homosexuality or
people who are identified or perceived as being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender
(LGBT).
TRANSPHOBIA
