1. A. Recycled water

(i) . CMC Hospital – 2000 KLD plant – 1600 KLD Waste Water Recycled and reused

(ii). CMC college campus – 300 KLD – Plant - 280 KLD waste water recycled and reused

B. Zero liquid Discharge : The waste generated within the CMC College & Hospital premises
are channelized and directed to the Sewage treatment plant and the Tertiary treated water is
reused inside the facility by Gardening, Flushing, HVAC and laundry utilities.

2. Prohibiting the usage of Single use- Plastics – The administration has taken several measures
to prohibit the usage of single use plastics like plastic cups, food packaging covers, and plastic
carry bags by making a plastic free zone.

3. Solar power utilization: Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels in Rooftop and Car Parking (830.55
kWp on RCC Roof and 1170.55kWp on CAR Park Structure) are installed to meet the 15- 20 %
of the power requirement at CMC Ranipet campus.

4. Paper Usage: Software’s are developed by the in-house teams for the clinical and non clinic
application (Online Prescription, online investigations & online medical records) in order to
reduce the utilization paper. EMR sheets are used by the outpatient’s department for the clinical
applications.

5. Phasing out the usage of Mercury: CMC Hospital is free from usage of Mercury based
apparatus in the Clinical & Non-clinical areas.

6. Integrated Building Monitoring system: The process controls related to Electricity,


HVAC/Cooling towers, Firefighting systems, Pneumatic Shute system (PTS), Raw water,
Processed Water and Recycled water is connected and monitored by the Centralized BMS
Integrated systems.

7. ACREX Hall of Fame: Runner up award for Sustainable Environment & green initiatives
taken in the Hospital campuses.

8. WHO – Model waste management Centre: CMC Hospital was chosen as a Private model
centre for training on the Bio Medical & general waste management by World Health
Organization. This will help in continuous quality improvement in our hospital.

9. Kurunkadugal scheme emphasized by TNPCB: CMC Vellore is being initiating a green


project by planting 1000 sapling to develop Kurunkadugal (Mini – Forest) with a area of 7.67
acres at CMC Ranipet campus.
