severe damage.
Protect air inlet from entry of contaminants such as moisture, dust, sand, and oil mist.
Under severe environmental conditions, ensure that inlet air filtration system is free of restrictions that
could reduce inlet air pressure. Use snow covers, de-icers, and sand/dust filters to protect the inlet air
system.
Checked: Sandra.Camy (2022-05-30)
Verify that exhaust collector drains are not connected to common drain manifolds. Common drain
manifolds sometimes drain or vent flammable gases and/or fluids.
1. Prior to any installation efforts, check the equipment nameplate for, and verify component identity
against, those indicated on the Mechanical Interface Drawing (MID), Also check for weight and air
flow direction.
2. The clean air section of the filter and clean air plenum must be completely vacuum cleaned and
any loose foreign matter like bolts, nuts, washers, slags, weld splatters, etc., must be removed,

3. Perform pre-installation cleaning of all modules, assemblies and ductwork using the appropriate
cleaning method. A water wash is appropriate for an unlined metal duct but not appropriate for
intake silencer with an acoustic lining that will absorb water or chemical cleaners. Common
methods include: a water wash, soap and water wash, wet rag wipe down, vacuum,
cleaning/blowing with compressed air or other method as required.
4. The air inlet assembly must be mounted on a surface designed to provide adequate support for
the weight of the equipment. The foundation on which the inlet resides must be designed to
ensure long-term support and service accessibility.
5. All duct sections, silencers and other components must be examined internally for cleanliness
and damage immediately prior to installation. Already assembled duct components should also
be checked before bolting up mating components.
6. Ducting during assembly should be sealed/covered if long periods of time are expected between
assembly. Components should be examined for any shipping/handling damage and repaired prior
to installation.
These procedures are to be performed prior to the arrival of Solar’s Commissioning Personnel
and are the responsibility of the customer and their contractor.
2. Place shipping crates on level ground elevated off grade before construction activities. If
applicable, necessary preservatives for storage were applied on packages and all external
openings were properly sealed in the factory. Refer to PIL097 for the preservation information.

5. All lifts must have adequate rigging gear that is designed to support the lift weight with enough
factor of safety. Solar’s design factor for ancillary component, dynamic factor of 1.5 shall be used
for all lifts per API RP 2A for onshore and offshore applications.
6. When lifting loose ship items, be aware of any specific unpacking or uncrating instructions to
avoid damage to equipment and injury to personnel. Unpacking equipment out of sequence or
improper orientation may not expose lifting features and could lead to equipment damage and/or
personnel injury. Riggers must use lifting provisions on the equipment, where provided. Unless
instructions state otherwise, riggers must be cautioned to not lift ancillary equipment as
assemblies. Lifting in such a way may impose stresses that can lead to equipment damage. For
component lift, use lifting lugs and spreader bars as recommended preventing damage due to
over stressing. Take care not to damage any parts during erection.
7. For ancillary components (which are provided by the supplier directly to the site other than Solar
lifting equipment), refer to the supplier’s lifting instructions
8. Any crates, boxes, containers, etc, dropped during lifting or off-loading operations, regardless
of distance of the fall, must be reported by the customer for Solar to determine the extent of
damage. Even if no external crate or unit damage is visible, equipment can suffer critical internal
damage due to shock that will only become apparent upon start-up of the unit. This internal
damage can have negative consequences causing lengthy delays.
10. Unless specifically noted on supplier lifting instructions, shipping rods, turnbuckles, or other
yellow painted components shall never directly be used as a lifting device.

11. For exhaust non-fixed (sliding) mounting pads, tighten nuts to snug tight condition, then back off
1/4 turn. The washer should be able to move. Tack weld nut or permanently deform the threads
to create a mechanical lock. Use only hardware provided
12. Slide Plates are required between the structural steel and component support pad for exhaust
systems. One 300 series stainless steel, typically 1/4" thick, slide plate per pad is required. The
component mounting pads should have slots and large enough support area for the pad and slide
plate including the thermal expansion. The slide plates to be secured enough to the support steel
in such a way that it should not slide out.
13. No pre-load is allowed on all flexible joints. Check all flexible joints on installed ducting and
ensure that install length of the flexible joints is in tolerance range (+/- ¼” for bellows and +/- 1/2”
for a flex duct). If the upstream and downstream of the ducts are not aligned properly than the
allowable tolerances are reduced by the amount of misalignment.
14. Use care when setting the exhaust components in place on the support steel slide plates. Ensure
the components are located properly in relationship to the turbine and stack centerlines and are
level, plumb and square with the mating support steel. Shimming may be necessary when setting
the components if the support feet do not contact the slide plates on the support steel. Shims
(supplied by others) to be 300 series stainless steel. Shims must be permanently attached either
by bolting or welding to the support steel. Do not weld a shim or slide pad directly to a component
mounting pad. Shims should be oversized relative to the support steel pads and fully engaged.

1. Unless otherwise indicated on the assembly drawing, bolts should be tightened to the snug-tight condition after all
components are in place and correctly positioned.
2. For fixed support points, tighten all bolted connections using the AISC turn-of-nut method whereby the nut shall be
rotated an additional 1/2 to 2/3 turn beyond the snug tight condition. Tack weld nut or permanently deform the
threads to create a mechanical lock.
3. For non-fixed (sliding) support points, tighten nuts to snug tight condition, then back off 1/4 turn. The washer should
be able to move. Tack weld nut or permanently deform the threads to create a mechanical lock.
4. Hardware is 316 SST, grade B8M per ASTM A193. Details are included within the kit bill of material shown
