1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. Objectives
The test objective is to make a pretest to anticipate the motorized valves and dampers
commissioning with AUMA actuators before the SCI 52 NI [3].
The test verifies correct implementation and completeness of:
• Direction of rotation
• Adjustment of limit switches
CONFIDENTIAL as defined under the Olkiluoto 3 Plant Contract

• Torque setting
• Running time
• Remote indication (if used)

1.2. Methods
Before the test, the RRS must be prepared according to the parameters of the valve (KKS,
CIVAR etc). The coherence of these parameters must be checked with appropriated
documents.
For each valve tested, the URSULA box is directly connected to the valve. This tool replace the
power supply, the main control room and the I&C.
The URSULA box is used to adjust the limit switches and to verify the movement.
This procedure includes four tests:
- Actuator with command termination on torque switch (TS) in both directions
- Actuator with command termination on limit switch (LS) in both direction
- Actuator with command termination on torque switch (TS) in closed position and
command termination on limit switch (LS) n open position
- Set up the remote position (if used)
N

Note: According to the valve’s CIRVAR only one of three first tests is used
ECCN:

For each valve the command termination is taken into account (CIRVAR in [4] and “CMD term.
VAR” on RRS)

3. PREREQUISITES FOR TEST PERFORMANCE

Following prerequisites must be fulfilled prior to starting

• The body of the valve is clean

• The pressure test is done
• The insulation test is done on the actuator winding (certificate)
• The URSULA box is not connected to the valve
• It has to take into account the initial status of the system (with or without fluid) and the
working conditions for safe operation (consider of blocking fro process isolation)
• Risk assessment is ready to start the test ([7] and [10]).
N

• Temporary power supply is ready to start the test. Every features of power supply are
ECCN:

take into account (400 Vac / 63 A)

• Every manipulate part of valve must be accessible, else ensure a safe access (e. g.
scaffolding)
N
AL:

• The RRS of the tested valve has to be ready (expected values known)
• For dedicated types of valve, the closing and opening movements have to be carried out
under fluid conditions. Refer to the Data Sheet Valve
• AUMA actuator according to [1] and [2] is used
• Adjustment of limit switches for AUMA actuator is possible as long as it is authorized by
the installation instructions. By the document KKS-Catalogue of valve [11] the link to the
installation instruction for each valve is available (Batch2-ID).

These operations are done under erection activities because ECCs are not signed.
The responsibilities of the operation (during the preparation, during the test, after the test) are
shared between the I&C commissioning team and the system commissioning team:
• The I&C commissioning team is in charge of:
- Preparing the SCI52 RRS of the valve (validity of the criteria)
- Preparing all the needs for the test (URSULA box, power supply cables to be
requested to the Intervention group, tools …)

- Checking that the SCI52 RRS for the valve tested is available and completed with
the expected values
- Checking that the valve can be tested without fluid
- Preparing the test environment, accessibilities, scaffolding etc. (contact intervention
group).
- Check the availability of the EOMR for the valve to be tested

8.3.3. Actuator termination command on TS for closed position and LS for opened
position: CIRVAR 03x

Step # Step Description

1 Open the switch compartment and the connection compartment

Before the first movement, check and note the position of the valve. At the end of the test, the
2 valve must be placed into this position
CONFIDENTIAL as defined under the Olkiluoto 3 Plant Contract

3 Connect the URSULA box

Setup of the URSULA box (Default setting)

In the URSULA box, choose the menu “Default setting” and for each features (Control variant,
4 Actuator protection and EPT type) choose the correct parameter (found in DSV)
Control Variant: Choose the type of valve, CIRVAR 03x
5 Note: With this information, URSULA stops the valve properly according to the command
termination and avoid to destroy the valve
Actuator Protection: Choose “Yes”
6
URSULA box can detect whether an actuator protection is present
EPT type: Choose the type of EPT (“Poti” or “4-20 mA”)
7 Be careful, it’s possible to destroy the “Poti” if you choose “4-20 mA”. “Poti” works with 1V
and “4-20 mA” works with 24 V
Basic test (Switch test)

8 Turn handwheel until valve is in intermediate position

In the switch compartment, check the setup of the torque switch, note on RRS (criteria) and
9 compare it with the data in the DSV. If the values do not match, report but don’t setup the
torque by yourself!
In the switch compartment, activate manually limit switch and torque switch :

8.3.4. Set up the remote position

The remote indication can be used to know the position of the valve. There are existing two
technologies to realize this function.
According to these technologies use the appropriate set up.
8.3.4.1. Setting the potentiometer (Poti)

Step # Step Description

CONFIDENTIAL as defined under the Olkiluoto 3 Plant Contract

1 Move the valve to the end position CLOSED

Turn potentiometer “0” (the big one) clockwise to the stop
2 End position CLOSED correspond to 0%, end position OPEN to 100%

3 Turn potentiometer back a little.

4 Perform fine-tuning of the 0 point at external setting potentiometer (for remote indication)

5 Fill out the RRS (criteria) and sign

8.3.4.2. Setting the electronic position transmitter RWG (4-20 mA)

Step # Step Description

1 Move the valve to the end position CLOSED

Turn potentiometer “0” (the big one) for SAN actuator or the spindle for SAI actuator*
2 clockwise to the stop

3 Turn potentiometer back a little (not for SAI actuator).

N
ECCN:

4 Turn potentiometer “0” clockwise until output current starts to increase

Turn potentiometer “0” back until the value 1.6 % is reached on the URSULA panel.
5 This ensured that the signal remains above the dead and live zero point

AL:

Move the valve to end position OPEN

7 Set potentiometer “MAX” to end value 100%

Approach end position CLOSED anew and check minimum value (1.6%). If necessary,
8 correct the setting
