Product Overview

1 Product Overview

This document describes the Baseband units for RBS 6000 systems.

1.1 Purpose
Baseband T provides a common Transmission Node (TN) for WCDMA, LTE,
and CDMA.

Baseband T communicates with the RBS for transmission purposes only and
is handled separately from an Operation and Maintenance (OAM) perspective.
Bandwidth is dynamically shared between all radio technologies on a site,
optimizing peak capacity for all services. It also provides TN connection for
other site equipment.

Baseband T is required in cases where high traffic throughput is required.

Baseband T enables efficient co-transport of WCDMA, LTE, and CDMA traffic

over IP on shared backhaul for efficient use of the transport network.

1.2 Variants
The Baseband T variants are the following:

• Baseband T503

1.3 Overview
This section provides an overview of Baseband T, as shown in Figure 1.

Information about Baseband T placement can be found in RBS Description.

1.4 Warranty Seal

The unit is equipped with a warranty seal sticker.

Note: Seals that have been implemented by Ericsson are not be broken or
removed, as it otherwise voids warranty.

Function Description

2 Function Description

Baseband T has the following functions:

• Supports backhauling of multistandard RBSs (including WCDMA, LTE,

and CDMA) over Ethernet with advanced QoS.

• Shapes traffic functionality, minimizing the requirements on the transport

network.

• Provides IP interfaces to RBSs that do not have a native IP interface.

• Provides timing information for the synchronization of RBSs.
