Create a motivating learning environment

YOUR STUDY SPACE

While you might be tempted to take advantage of the comfort and flexibility
of online learning by attending class while still in bed and in your pajamas,
countless studies have shown that the way you dress, and the environment
around you can impact your learning.

We recommend finding a quiet space, with high-speed Internet

connection, where you can study and concentrate while completing your
coursework. Keep your textbooks and other learning materials nearby to
eliminate disruptions in your study time.

Manage your time well and stay organized

HELPFUL TIPS
Be ready to commit about 10 hours of coursework per week for a 15-week
course, and 20 hours of coursework per week for an 8-week course.

At the start of each semester, review the syllabus for each of your
courses. Make note of all major deadlines, as well as weekly assignments
and readings.

If you are in a different time zone, it is important for you to be conscious of

due dates in Eastern Time (EST/EDT).

Be especially careful of your time management so that you do not

procrastinate and miss deadlines, even for unexpected issues like technical
issues.

Participate, and embrace your online community

HELPFUL TIPS
One of the biggest myths of online learning is that you are completely on your own, but this is
far from the truth. Community may look different online, but it is certainly there.

Participating in online discussion threads, and in video lectures will enhance not only your
own learning experience, but that of your classmates as well. When participating in your
online course, remember to always be respectful. Think about how your written words could
be interpreted by others and always be considerate of other views and opinions. With that said,
be willing to share your own ideas and perspectives as well.

Important Note: Attendance does not replace active participation in online courses, and all
attendance requirements must be met.

WHICH POST SHOULD NOT BE SUBMITTED ON A DISCUSSION THREAD?

A. Social media marketing is so valuable to a business. Not only will it promote a business and bring exposure, but it can also bring in sales.

B. In my opinion, TikTok is the best social media platform to use for marketing purposes. This platform is used worldwide and can reach a wide audience.

C. Social media marketing is great. But, if you’re still using Facebook in 2022, then your business is going nowhere. Just quit.

D. There are so many tools available that help track data for social media posts. You can use this data to see what types of posts your audience likes and responds to
well, and then continue to create similar type of content.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL HEALTH

Online learning requires a significant amount of screen time. Be mindful of
your health so that you can always be at your best when learning.

When needed, and when appropriate, take a quick 10-minute break

from your screen and get some fresh air, if possible.

Stand-up desks are a great way to reduce back and neck pain, and a good way
to reduce the amount of time spent sitting.

Lastly, consider using blue light blocking glasses to reduce eye strain and
headaches caused by screens.
