Making Online or Virtual Learning Safe and Conductive
Notice
Unlike the traditional face-to-face classroom environment, online or virtual environment is a bit
difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is imaginary and not in
the physical sense. It has no corners or walls and it can be set up with the support of technology.
As a teacher, what have you discovered to be
I think the most easy to implement in virtual class is by giving them instructional materials that
they need to create a report so that they are the ones who present to the class and they will be
graded by the teacher after the end of discussion. It is an advantage for a teacher because he/she
can think of the next step he/she can do to create more teaching materials and methods to their
students.
How did the students show their active participation in the lesson?
By always answering the questions that the teacher gave or when a teacher calls a name of each
student to answer and by giving their ideas to the lesson on and on until the end of the end of the
lesson.
Analyze
Which of the following is/are your analysis/analyses of on-line learning environment? Check one
or more.
__/___It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students.
__/___It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform.
__/___Students who are alone in their home space find difficulty to make responses.
__/___Internet connectivity is a great factor to support a conducive environment.
Reflect
As a future teacher I feel that the on-line learning environment can be safe if
If we can successfully impose and supervise the use of gadgets in moderation, we can reduce the
risk of overexposure of students to radiation. Aside from that, we need to know if the children
are in a safe environment so that we can control or avoid mishaps that may injure our pupils,
because you are responsible for their safety as a teacher.
I think that teaching in a virtual learning environment is
Is intended to broaden students’ educational opportunities. It makes no attempt to imitate them.
Students interact and access resources in virtual learning environments in ways they would not or
could not in a physical classroom.
Write Action Research Prompts
OBSERVE Identify the problems brought about by the on-line learning environment.
Adaptability Struggle
Students’ learning experiences are completely different when they go from traditional classroom
and face-to-face instructor training to computer-based training in a virtual classroom.
Technical Issues.
Many students are not provided with the high bandwidth or the strong internet connection that
online courses require, and thus fail to catch up with their virtual classmates.
Computer Literacy
Despite the fact that pupils are generally tech knowledgeable and thus capable of managing
computers, computer literacy is a serious issue among today’s students. Many of them are unable
to use basic programs like Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and hence are unable to manage
their data. Furthermore, many students find it difficult to solve simple computer difficulties since
they lack knowledge in this field. Technological competency, on the other hand, is required for
students to take online courses because it allows them to handle their assignments and
courseware without difficulty.
Time Management
Online courses need a lot of time and rigorous labor, thus time management is a difficult task for
e-learners. Furthermore, while most people prefer web-based learning programs because of their
flexibility in terms of location and time, they rarely have the time to complete the courses due to
their different daily obligations. These students would benefit greatly from a regular schedule
planner in which they could set reminders for their classes and homework.
REFLECT How would you solve this problem?
Fist and foremost to solve this problem I will check the background of my students so that I will
know what are the adjustments I need to resolve the issue. I will make a way and teach them how
things work like computers, phones, application etc. That we use in day to day activities, second
is I will double check if there are instances that my teaching materials will stop or will have a
technical issues so that I can prepare another plan and continue my lesson.
PLAN What Initial plan do you intend to do to solve to problem?
For my students who are struggling to adapt virtual learning I will help them by giving them
some activities or test that can test their knowledge and skills and if there are results that ain’t fit
for them then there will be some adjustments that I need to resolve so that nothing will be left
behind. In technical issues I will provide a hard copy of the lesson with an answer sheet at the
end of the lesson so that no one will be in trouble of not having a quality education which should
be provided by the professionals.
