FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING
LESSON ENVIRONMENT
6

Participate and Assist

Given the concepts and infographic, how can you participate and assist in a
face-to-face learning environment?
As a student-teacher in this curriculum, I can participate and assist in face-to-face learning
enviroment by guiding and helping those students who struggles in class, helping my
cooperating teacher in his paper works, and teaching in a class. Aside from that, as we are now
in new curriculum I will teach them how to be independent. I will allow them to explore to
discover new knowledge and ideas. And I will incorporate technology as my teaching tools.

Notice

Having been exposed to the traditional classroom in your basic education, it seems
that everything is familiar: However, as teaching-learning theories evolve over time
there are changes that are taking place.
What changes have you noticed in the face-to-face classroom spaces?

face mask and limited interactions.

Analyze

What do you think brought the changes in the face-to-face learning environment
now?
Technology innovation causes a big impact in todays learning environment because most of the
teachers uses technology as their teaching tools and also Covid19 give us a hard time to cope
up with learnings and cause a big adjustments to both teachers and students. We have to do a
limited face-to-face classes to ensure the safety of everyone.

From the changes that you identified, choose one that you can do. How will do it?
Among the changes that I identified, converting traditional classroom into a modern clasroom
is the most sigficant changes because in today’s generation, the students are more particular in
using technology, so as a future teacher, I will use technology in my classroom as my teaching
tools.

Reflect

Do you think making the learning environment conducive for a face-to-face

classroom will enable the learners to achieve better learning outcomes? Yes Explain
your answer.
Because a conducive classroom is a safe, clean, far from noise, and well-ventilated that can
help students to concentrate in their learnings.

PORTFOLIO ENTRY
Title: The Face-to-face Learning Environment

Describe the physical environment:

Refers to the physical layout of a classroom and school. The school
must be clean, safe, and well furnished. The school should provide
spaces for children to interact with peers. The school must far from
noise and distractions to create a conducive learning environment for
children.
Describe the psychological environment:
Without a question, the psychological environment is the most
challenging and one-sided in nature. Within the psychological
environment, teachers show their attitudes, excitement, values, and
principles. Most students expect to be encouraged and assisted in their
learning when they begin their educational journey. In the classroom,
the psychological environment encourages the exchange of ideas,
opinions, and attitudes, as well as the asking of questions and the
assessment of concerns.

Describe the social environment:

The word social environment relates to how the environment of a
classroom influences or facilitates interactions among young children,
teachers, and family members. A well-designed social environment
promotes positive relationships between adults and children and allows
adults to assist children in achieving their social goals. Teachers must
plan activities that take the following criteria into consideration in order
to develop positive social relationships in the classroom.
LESSON ONLINE LEARNING
7 ENVIRONMENT

Participate and Assist

If you re assisting you mentor in your on-line class, there are some reminders you
should share to your remote learners on a synchronous platform like google. Meet, zoom,
MOOCS or any other platform you are familiar with and are using.

With the use of any google. Meet, Zoom or any platform, organize a virtual class. Do
this with the guidance of your mentor.

Notice

Unlike the traditional face-to-face classroom environment, online or virtual environment

is a bit difficult to manage. It is because Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Is imaginary and
not in the physical sense. It has no corners or walls and it can be set up with the support of
technology.

As a teacher, what have you discovered to be easy to implement in your virtual

class? Since virtual class is not applicable in elementary level in our school, I will base my
answer based on my own experience as a student of online class. For me, online class is hard
for both teacher and students because it is difficult for teacher to manage his students about
what they are doing behind the camera. Some of the students will attend the online class just
for the attendance.

How did the students show their active participation in the lesson?
By arriving on time in virtual class and answering questions by the teacher by raising their
hands using the raise hand icon.

ANALYZE

Which of the following is/are your analyses of on-line learning environment?

Check one or more.

_____It was difficult to observe the physical behavior of the students.

_____It takes time for students to learn how to use the platform.
_____Students who are alone in their home space find difficulty to make responses.
_____Internet connectivity is a great factor to support a conducive environment.

REFLECT
As a future teacher, I feel that the on-line learning environment can be safe if the
teacher will create a private and secured innovation to protect the information of his students
because we can’t define the online security and as a student, we don’t know what are the
things that we need to avoid preventing problems.

I think that teaching in virtual learning environment is difficult in our area because of
slow internet connection and unexpected power interruption.

OBSERVE

Identify the problems brought about by the on-line learning environment.

 Slow internet connection.
 Unexpected power interruption.
 Difficulty in using website.

REFLECT

How would you solve this problem?

This problem can be solved if the teacher will conduct face-to-face classes because online class
is not suitable in our place. And if face-to-face classes is prohibited, I suggest that the teacher
will inform his students ahead of time to prevent problems, if there is a power interruption and
loss of internet connection, he must have a make-up classes.

PLAN

What initial plan do you intend to do to solve the problem?

In this situation, both teacher and student must cooperate in understanding the problems that
may occur. In that way, they will plan on how they will come up with the missed class schedule.

LESSON ESTABLISHING CLASSROOM

8 ROUTINES AND PROCEDURES

Participate and Assist

To ensure that I can carry out/perform my tasks efficiently and effectively in

participating and assisting my cooperating teacher in establishing routines and procedures, in
the classroom or in remote learning, I must be guided by the following questions:

1. How will I gain student attention in the classroom /remote learning?

2. What are the routines and procedures that I need to establish before, during and
after my classes whether on a face-to-face or remote learning?
3. What verbal and non-verbal communication will I use to signal that student
need help/attention in the classroom/remote learning?
4. How must students get/secure the needed work materials and books and others
in the classroom remote learning?
5. How will students transition to group work and other cooperative activities in the
classroom/remote learning?
6. What procedures must be followed by students who need to attend to personal
necessities in the classroom/online classes?
7. What rules must be set for students who finish task early/ and for those who
cannot complete work on time?
8. What procedures must be observed for tardiness early dismissals
9. What procedures must be done when submitting homework performance tasks in the
classroom/ remote learning?
10. What procedures must be employed in movements into and out of the
classroom/remote learning?

Having these guide questions in mind, consult your Resource Teacher on the
possible assistance or participation that you can do to help her/him in doing the
classroom routines Complete the matrix for the routines that you can employ
before, during and after classes in the classroom/remote learning to ensure order
and discipline in your classes List down the problems which you have encountered
while implementing these routines.
Our cooperating teacher give us an opportunity to help him in his face-to-face classes. He
requests us to help him in assisting those students who struggles in their learning, help him in
his paper works and ask them to teach the class.
Some problems that we encountered during implementing the routine:
1. Student’s difficulty in understanding the lesson.
2. Student’s behaviors inside the classroom.
3. Student’s diversity.

Notice

After doing your classroom routines and formulating your procedures, state what you
noticed by answering the following questions:

 How did you feel after employing your classroom routines and establishing
your procedures in the classroom/remote learning?
Since it is my first time to handle or observe an actual class, it was hard to me
because I am not familiar with them, especially their behaviors.

 How did your students respond to your classroom routines and

procedures?
There are times that they listen to us.
 What was the feedback of your Resource Teacher on your classroom
routines and procedures?
The feedback from my Resource Teacher on the classroom routines is to improve
and maintain more of the routines. Aside from that, he was pleased that I had
finished the task.
 Was there a change in the classroom environment/teaching-learning
process after you have implemented your classroom routines and
procedures?
The classroom is more organized, and the children is very participative.

 What was the feedback of your Resource Teacher on your classroom

routines and procedures?
We have to maintain our classroom routines and procedures to have an organized
class.

Analyze

1. What factors/ conditions prompted you to establish those classroom routines

and procedures?
Children’s behavior and lack of connection towards us. They are very shy and not talking
to us.

2. Was there a marked improvement in classroom management after employing

your classroom routines?
So far, they are now comfortable with us, and they would actively listen to us.

3. Did the teaching-learning process improve? Justify your answer.

Yes, because they are now actively participating in our discussion.

Reflect

What insights have you gained while doing this learning episode?
I learned that dealing with diverse learners is not easy. We need to know their strength
and weaknesses to give them enough learnings. There are also fast and slow learners that we
have to deal with every day. I learned also that not all learners learn in the same pace.
