Why use sequencing chart ?

ühelps children recall the order of events


or the steps in a process, and in
connecting things children are interested
in, or events that they experienced such
as a field trip or birthday party
ü
ü sequencing chart is a tool helping children
organize their thoughts to tell a story –
children can complete story telling process
(telling a story with a beginning, middle, and
end) and feel confident about accomplishing
this task

üvery young children who may not have the
confidence to write, organization of ideas can
be done through drawing

sequencing chart is a strategy that can


foster children’s interest in writing their
own books. After children complete their
sequencing charts, they might like to cut
them into three pieces, put the pieces in
sequential order, and staple them together
at the corner to create a short book.
