CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
The Cognitive Practice aims to give students more practical experience across a
range of subjects. I decided to work as a teaching assistant because it was a job relevant
to my degree as an English language student. Additionally, I will be able to apply the
theoretical knowledge I have learned in class to real-world scenarios with this task. The
objective is to enhance trainees' practical abilities and gain a deeper comprehension of the
intricacy of language instruction. Fortunately, Compass Education Development Limited
Company hired me as a public school assistant based on recommendations from my
friends. It's a fantastic organization with a large network that links to other schools. I
have wonderful coworkers that are always willing to help when I need it. The working
hours are variable here; I usually work in the mornings and afternoons, but I make an
effort to work six days a week. My typical workdays are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7
a.m. to 11 a.m.
For third-year students like me, this internship is a great way to prepare for the new
atmosphere and learn how businesses run their companies on a professional level. That
gave me new perspectives on lesson planning, effective teaching methods, and classroom
management. Furthermore, I have the opportunity to enhance my soft skills and develop
more focused communication abilities.

CHAPTER 3: WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Furthermore, I maintain contact with my superiors. I often talk to them to find the
right way to ensure that I meet their expectations and fulfill my responsibilities well.
Whenever I have difficulties, I feel comfortable looking for advice from my superiors and
discussing potential solutions.
3.1. Position
Another of my main roles was to maintain order in the classroom. I made sure that
students were orderly and well-behaved before the commencement of each class. During
the lessons, I monitored the students' behavior and resolved any disruptions that may
have occurred, ensuring a conducive learning atmosphere for everyone.
Additionally, I became a translator for the teachers whenever the students had
difficulty understanding the lesson. I ensured effective communication between the
teacher and students, enabling a better comprehension of the subject matter. This helped
to bridge any language barriers and promote effective learning.
Furthermore, I was responsible for checking and reminding the teachers to sign the
school reports. I ensured that all necessary paperwork and documentation were completed
accurately and on time.
I also had the responsibility to observe and report back to the company regarding the
teaching situation of the teachers. This involved assessing their adherence to the program
distribution, teaching style, punctuality, and overall professional attitude.
In addition, I was in charge of collecting the exams and semester exam results of the
class and sending them to the company for further analysis and record-keeping. This
helped in evaluating the students' progress and provided valuable insights to improve the
teaching methods and curriculum.
During company events such as English Day or Open House, I provided support as
required. This involved assisting in organizing and coordinating activities, ensuring their
smooth execution and success.
Lastly, I recorded and reported any feedback received from the school regarding the
teaching services provided by the company. This feedback was valuable in identifying
areas for improvement and maintaining a strong partnership with the school.
3.3. Work experience gain
After a while of working there, and having the opportunity to observe things, this job
is quite stressful than I thought. The problem is to manage the classroom effectively. Not
only do I learn from my colleagues around me, I also have to coordinate with managers
to see how they cope with difficulties and deal with situations. Since then I have had
more measures to manage the class. Through this job, I feel that the career of a teacher is
not as simple as I thought. I had to keep standing, and my legs hurt. Not only that,
teachers also have to talk constantly and always create a cheerful atmosphere to avoid the
classroom becoming boring. It's not an easy thing to do. I learned a lot of the teaching
skills of many teachers. Everyone has different ways of teaching, but in general, it's very
attractive. I also know a few managers, they are very cute and responsible at work. They
always answer questions and support me when I need them. You praise my behavior and
manner. I always make sure that I wear the company uniform every time I go to work.
About how I handled the situation, they said I was calm enough but I needed to improve
my handling of it. I was relieved after hearing those comments. I've learned that we
shouldn't let anger dominate ourselves. Anger will overwhelm us and we can't come up
with the right solution. Instead, I have to calm down, do one thing at a time. Only when I
feel comfortable can I communicate and negotiate better.
* OBSERVATION TASK
BACKGROUND
1. The leaner
Overview lesson:
a) Attending to the learner
Data analysis:
Teachers have used some common ways to track their students, including:
- Use the pronoun "you" with eyes/fingers instead of the students’s
name: As the teacher is a foreigner, this would be more convenient.
- Encourage the use of language English in class communication: When
students answer in Vietnamese, teachers often remind them to use
English to answer.
- Eye contact.
- Touch (she patted a students who was talking to the person behind
them).
- Point at the students to signal them to go to the board.
- Come closer to the students or lean toward them.
- Put a finger in front of the mouth and required ask the students to be
quiet.
First of all, gender is not related to the distribution of teachers. The boys
were noisy in class so the teacher ordered more. While the girls seem
quieter and don't need too much help from teachers.

CHAPTER 5: SELF-EVALUATION
4.1. Strengths
For me, this internship is a great opportunity for me to learn more knowledge,
experience, and understand more about the teaching profession. The most extraordinary
thing that I usually care less about is that my confidence has increased a lot. While
working as a teaching assistant, I trained many skills such as PowerPoint, Word, some
new games, and how to communicate information to students. In addition, I feel that I
have done quite well as a class manager. After 3 months of work, I feel that I'm getting
better and more confident. I am more patient than before and control my emotions
through this job. This is the first job related to my field of study so I want to show my
best attitude. In some cases, I have to try to remain calm as much as I can, hide my anger
and control everything smoothly. Although it is still lacking, I have always tried my best
to accomplish the given task well.
4.2. Weaknesses
As I mentioned above, although there are many things I don't know and I made
unnecessary mistakes during the internship due to lack of knowledge in some areas such
as class management, understanding students. But fortunately, I had managers who were
always with me and helped me solve the problem on my own. I realized my weakness is
how I communicate with foreigners. I feel shy when I face them and am very afraid to
communicate with foreigners, because I haven't had many opportunities to talk to them
before. A limited language skill is also a weakness for me.
After realizing my strengths and weaknesses, I focused on the things I didn't do well and
maintained the job that I thought was okay. During that time, I tried to talk more with
native teachers. About a few weeks later, I was able to show my confidence when
communicating with foreigners, they also showed kindness to me so it made me more
comfortable managing my work. I gradually improve myself by solving my weaknesses. I
know I haven't done the perfect job I want, but at least I believe I have gained a lot of
experience and skills from this difficult job. At the end of my internship, I was more
proficient than in the early days. I no longer worry when communicating with foreigners.
On the contrary, I see this as an opportunity for me to improve my voice and
communication. Our strengths and weaknesses always go in the same direction not only
in our careers but also in our lives. It is necessary to encourage our strengths and apply
them as much as possible to show our best performance. We may not make weakness
disappear forever, but we can improve and see them as a promotion to develop ourselves
for a better version.
CHAPTER 6: CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATIONS
6.1. Conclusion
I've found that being a teaching assistant calls for a blend of patience,
adaptability, and strong communication abilities. It's crucial to adapt to various learning
styles and be prepared to help kids who might be having difficulties. Furthermore, I also
recognize how important it is to build a friendly and welcoming learning atmosphere in
the classroom where every student feels supported and respected.
6.2. Recommendations
6.2.1 Recommendations for next semester’s students
We only have two internships left until we graduate. I hope you get
everything ready and locate a position that fits your major. To impress the
company, try to put your best foot forward in your CV and come prepared and
wise for the interview. Additionally, make an effort to watch and pick up
knowledge from your coworkers—they are the best teachers. Doing the work
you genuinely want to accomplish is one extremely crucial thing. Not because
you choose a job at random because you had to complete the internship. If you
don't collaborate, the firm and you will both be wasting time. If you make a
mistake, it's okay; I did, multiple times, and I still managed to overcome it. It
would be better if we concentrated on fixing and improving it. Finally, but just
as importantly, I hope all incoming Hoa Sen University students have a
wonderful and productive internship before they graduate
6.2.2 Recommendations for school
For my university, I think Hoa Sen University offers all of its students an
excellent opportunity to learn from an early age. I hope the school will keep
allowing students to complete internships and would do everything in its power
to help them reach their academic goals. Students should carefully prepare for
this invaluable period since they only have two opportunities to complete the
internship. More job orientation workshops should be offered by the school to
help students make informed decisions about their careers and internships. This
will help them land the ideal internship and launch a successful career soon.
For Compass Education, I've had a great working period here. But I
hope the arrangement of the coordinates will be more appropriate. We don't
have too much choice in choosing a workplace. Although I live in Binh Thanh
District, I have to work in Tan Binh District, Tan Phu District. I hope the
company will make a better arrangement
