4.1 BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ORGANISATION

The Travancore Sugars and Chemicals Ltd (T.S. & C. Ltd.) was incorporated in June 1937
with an authorized share capital of Rs.60,00,000 with an objective to acquire carry on and
transact the trade sand business of planters, general merchants and importers, manufactures of
dealers in sugar, wine and spirits. Now the company is concentrating on Indian Made Fine
Liquor (IMFL) production. There is no marketing department in this company because the
sales of IMFL products are only done through the Kerala State Beverages Corporation
(KSBC) Ltd. This government company registered under joint stock Companies Act 1956and
its share capital, as at 2012 is Rs.13,15,68,909Manpower of the company is 218 employees at
present and turnover approximately for the year ended 2013-2014 is 111cores. The operations
of the company are highly sophisticated over the years and the company has developed very
high reputation for the quality of its products. The products are resilient, inexpensive and
hygienic/ the company's products are successfully accepted in all over Kerala because the

Indian made foreign liquor: - Indian made foreign liquor is the official term used by
governments business and media in India to refer to all types of hard liquor See in the country
other than indigenous alcoholic beverages. IMFL also referred to spirit that are produced in
foreign countries and imported to India in bulk quantities and bottled in an excise bonded
warehouse by the importers. The alcoholics strength of IMFL generally does not exceed
42.8% alcohol by volume. During the financial year 2016-2018 the company sold 774628
bulk litters of IMFL valued Rs 870319002. The major liquor product produced by the
