Introduction
TIGR (The Institute for Genomic Research)
Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) is a microbial database that deals with structure,
functional and comparative analysis of genome and gene product
It was founded in 1992 by J. Craig Venter, Mark Adams, and others, with a primary focus
on advancing genomic research and understanding the genetic basis of life.

Protocols:
1. Google was opened. Typed TIGR in the Google search bar and searched.
2. Clicked on the first website link named as “TIGR (The Institute for Genomic
Research).

3. The following page appeared.

Result:

TIGR was opened. It was last updated on 05-04-2005, no update after this.
EcoCyc
Introduction:
EcoCyc is a database and online resource that focuses on the model organism Escherichia
coli (E. coli). Developed by SRI International, EcoCyc provides comprehensive information
on the genome, metabolism, and regulatory networks of E. coli. It is organism specific
genome database that describe the metabolic and signal transcription pathway of E.Coli, its
enzymes, its transport protein and its mechanism of transcriptional control of gene
expression.

Protocols:
1. Google was opened. Typed EcoCyc in the search bar and searched.
2. Clicked first link named as “EcoCyc: Encyclopedia of E.Coli Genes and Metabolism.

3. EcoCyc website opened. Typed gene id EG10999 in search bar and searched
4. The result (name, pathway, reaction etc) appeared. Clicked on Pathway: L threonine
biosynthesis.

5. Following results appeared.

Result:

Found whole genome sequence of E.Coli using EcoCyc.

Pathway of L threonine biosysnthesis was also found using EcoCyc
