job(n.) - the regular work that a person does to earn money.

Careers
Architect - a person that designs buildings and houses
Actor/Actress - a person that acts in plays, movies or TV shows
Accountant - a person that works with the money and accounts of a company
Astronomer - a person who studies the stars and the universe
Author - a person who writes books, articles or reports
Baker - a person who bakes bread and cakes
Builder - a person whose job is to make buildings
Butcher - a person who works with meat, the cut meat and sell it in their shop
Carpenter - a person who makes things of wood including furniture and houses
Chef/Cook - a person that prepares food for others, often in a restaurant or a café
Cleaner - a person whose job is to clean houses, offices, public places, etc.
Dentist - a person that can fix your problem with teeth
Doctor - a person you go to see when you are ill or have some type of health problem
Farmer - a person that works on a farm, usually with animals
Firefighter - a person that puts out fires
Judge - a qualified person that decides cases in a law court
Journalist - a person whose job is to collect and write news, stories for newspapers,
magazines, radio, TV or online news sites
Lawyer - a person whose job is to give advice to people about the law and speak for them
in court
Librarian - a person that works in a library
Mechanic - a person that repairs machines, especially car motors
Pilot - a person who flies planes
Police officer - a member of the police force who tries and prevents crimes
Teacher - a person who passes their knowledge to students, usually at school
Surgeon - a doctor who is specially trained to perform medical operations

*Always keep in mind that all professions and jobs are important, and all people doing
them make our lives possible and much easier. Therefore, we should always treat them with
respect.
Vocabulary (the text):

-career(n.) – the job or series of jobs that you do during your working life, especially if you
continue to get better jobs and earn more money.
-ambition(n.) – a strong wish to achieve something
-spare time – time when you are not working or do not have anything you must do
-find out – to get some information about something/somebody by asking, reading etc.
-on the go – very busy or active
-on my own – alone, without help from anyone else
-to fix(v.) – to repair something
-to take care – to look after, to protect someone or something and provide the things that that
person or thing needs
- to revise(v.) – to study again something you have already learned in preparation for an exam

-ambitious – having strong wish to be successful, powerful or rich
-caring – a caring person is kind and gives emotional support to others
-creative – producing or using original and unusual ideas

-honest – always telling the truth and never stealing or cheating
-independent – not taking help or money from other people
- organised – to be able to plan things carefully and keep things tidy
-practical – good at making or repairing things
-responsible – having the job or duty of doing something or taking care of somebody or
something, so that you may be blamed if something goes wrong
-sociable – enjoy spending time with other people
