Introduction

In this report we are going to demonstrate the features of High Availability, Fault Tolerance, Load
balancing and Commercial support in VMware by using vSphere. The TrackIT’s goals can access
VMWARE virtualization technology. They can go with ESXi 6 servers with vcenter server setup.
Advanced design is given below. They can go with ESXi 6.5 just a datacentre. A resource for servers.
Since they received only one repository all the physical servers had to be converted to Esxi 6 servers.
The virtual bridge will be available with 4 Xeon servers with 3.6 GHz. These servers will be converted
to ESXi 6 servers. Both Xeon 3.6 GHz ESXi 6 servers will enable the DOMAIN Cluster. These clusters
will be stored inside a potential reservoir.

The VMware ESX server enables Intel x86 and x64 computer systems to be distributed and
assembled where needed. It is high-end virtual machine software. It has led the industry to
streamline that computing system by managing virtual machines. Virtual machines can be easily
separated from one another, secure and easily portable. It is low cost and able to pass through IT's
recognized their level of service beyond the business due to the high-performance management
provided by the virtual machine platform. Adaptation to the needs of the target-critical applications
is provided by the VMware ESX server due to fine-grained control functions when running directly on
the hardware. VMware ESX server management capabilities have created limitations on shared, disk
I / O, CPU and memory for all virtual machines. Virtual Centers can streamline data center
management and reduce costs through a variety of computer applications, storage and connectivity.
Vmotion provides fast updating and optimization of devices across virtual environments by allowing
exchange without interruption for users.

Part A

In this section the requirements of the server, networks, storage, and software all will listed done in
details as how much data and configuration will be required for developing the TrackIT’s
requirements. The hardware requirement can be Number of servers (or nodes), Processors, RAM,
Network Interface Cards along with the proper quantity required and the estimated cost of all the
device and software used.

Virtualization Is used in the suggested design, with the

VMware vSphere acting as the hy6pervisor layer. The
recommended hardware, sever and storage are
approved for use with vSphere 6.5. To enable high
availability and effective resource sharing across the
vSphere hosts, the design will make use of the HA DRS
functionalities.

SAN storage featuring two controller’s different levels

of RAID are proposed for FC. To ensure redundant
communication between severs and SAN storage, tow
FC fabric switches are offered.
For redundancy, two gigabit network switches are
offered. To connect to 10Gbps network backbone, the
switch will include uplink ports with SFP+ connectivity
modules.

Application as seen in the accompanying graphic, two

ESXI hosts are used to share virtual machine. A single
node failure scenario can be handled with the
available resource (cores/memory). The vSphere HA
and DRS feature will make sue that the VMs are
transferred and placed on the appropriate hosts.

A logical picture of the VMware

infrastructure organisation is show down to
the right. To give environment high
availability and fault tolerance, there is a HA
cluster. For future needs, the system can be
expanded to include more ESXi host. The
vSphere cluster will house VCentre as a
virtual machine (VM).

Given the low numbers of hosts in the environment, the solution will make use of a vSphere
standard switch. To add redundancy to the system, both ESXi host will be connected to two HPE
Aruba Network switches. After that, the Aruba switch will be linked to the company’s 10G network
infrastructure. For redundancy and load balancing, the switch will be connected to every port on the
quad port NICs. The following virtual NIC (vNIC) configurations must be made for solution function
properly.
