TUNDRA
Tundra is the coldest of all the biomes. Tundra
comes from the Finnish word tunturi, meaning
treeless plain. It is noted for its frost-molded
landscapes, extremely low temperatures, little
precipitation, poor nutrients, and short growing
seasons. Dead organic material functions as a
nutrient pool.

taigas
Taiga, generally referred to in North America
as a boreal forest or snow forest, is a biome
characterized by coniferous forests consisting
mostly of pines, spruces, and larches. The
taiga or boreal forest has been called the
world's largest land biome.
TEMPERATE DECIDUOUS
FOREST
The temperate deciduous forest
is a biome that is always changing.
It has four distinct seasons:
winter, spring, summer and fall.
TROPICAL
RAINFOREST
The tropical rainforest is a hot,
moist biome where it rains all year
long. tropical rain forest always
appears green and therefore it is
called an evergreen forest.
GRASSLAND
Grassland, area in which the vegetation is
dominated by a nearly continuous cover of
grasses. Grasslands occur in environments
conducive to the growth of this plant cover but not
to that of taller plants, particularly trees and
shrubs. The factors preventing establishment of
such taller, woody vegetation are varied.
DESERTS
A desert is a large area of land,
usually in a hot region, where
there is almost no water, rain,
trees, or plants.
