Is Mathematics Invented or Discovered? Provide pieces

of evidence.

Invented, mathematics was invented by the Sumerians, the first civilization to develop the
counting system. It is a common belief amongst many scientists that some of the oldest and
most basic mathematical functions, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
have been used for over 4,000 years. By the years passed some there were people who
invented tools to make solving easier. This is the evidence that supports my answer.
1. ABACUS

The abacus is the world's oldest known calculator, yet neither its origins nor its creator is
known. It has a lengthy history of use outside of China, including in Ancient Greece, Rome,
Russia, Japan, and Babylon.
The name has Greek roots. Abax is a Greek word that means "flat surface." It was adopted by
the Romans and given the Latin name abacus. The first "a" is stressed in the English
pronunciation of the word, which is "a-buh-kuhs."
The abacus is still in use today despite its long history. Tim Cranmer, who created the Cranmer
abacus in 1962, is credited with creating the modern abacus. Individuals who are blind or
visually challenged are nevertheless taught using this method.
2. EGYPTIAN CUBIT

Egyptian cubit it may have originated in Egypt about 3000 B.C. Centimeters and meters were
not common things of measurement in ancient Egypt. They used fingers, spans, and cubits. The
distance between the tip of your longest finger and the base of your elbow is known as a cubit.

3. ARITHMETIC ROPE

The knotted rope, also known as the arithmetic rope, was a common arithmetic tool used in the
Middle Ages to solve many mathematical and geometrical issues. An arithmetic rope typically
has at least 13 evenly spaced knots, which is why it is also known as a thirteen-knot rope.
