Why and how did Fidel Castro come to power in Cuba?

● Cuba was not industrialized.

● Cuba economy depend on the US.

● When the sugar price went down the living conditions for workers were very

bad.

● No access to education and health.

● literacy was widespread.

● Social inequality.

● Political instability.

● Corruption.

Argument 1

When Fidel Castro got to power, Cuba was unstable. There was unemployment,

corruption and inflation. So the cuban population wanted someone that could change

Cuba and bring stability.

Argument 2

Fidel Castro use the force to achieve his goal. The use of guerrilla was the key to

beat Fulgencio Batista and taking him out of power.

(Counter arguments)

Argument 3

Batista was a man with a lot of power and had the respect of most of the population,

however his government was weak, and the country was unstable and Batista didn't

find any solutions of that, that is why people went on the opposition's side even

though it wasn't the best choice, but it was the only one left.
Argument 4

Fidel Castro started gaining popularity because of the propaganda that he used, and

because people wanted to follow another party, in this case the 26th movement ,

because Batista's government was bad for the country.
