1 In pairs, read Sir Orfeo’s legend and find Celtic and medieval elements. Circle the Celtic elements
and underline the medieval ones. Remember that the Celts believed in fairies as spirits of the
forest.

Orfeo is sad. He leaves his castle and he takes his harp with him. Orfeo lives in
the forest now. One day, he sees the fairies, their king and... Herodis! He follows
them. Orfeo goes into a cave. This is a new world for him. Orfeo is in the world
of the fairies. He is in a beautiful castle. There are many people there. Orfeo says
he is a musician. He plays a song for the king. The king loves Orfeo’s music. He
offers Orfeo a present. Orfeo and Herodis go back to England. People are happy.
They have a king and a queen to protect them again.

6 Follow the instructions and play the game ‘Describe the scene!’.
Materials: 1 boardgame, 1 coin, 2 counters
Instructions: In pairs, take turns to toss the coin. If you get heads, you move your counter forward 2
squares. If you get tails, you move your counter forward 1 square. If you land on an illustrated square,
you have to a language mistake, you stay in the same square. The first player to get to the ‘FINISH’
square is the winner.
