2/25/24

Dear Families,

My name is Ahira Merrell and it is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to kindergarten! I will be
your son/daughter’s Dual Language Kindergarten teacher this school year. This will be a wonderful year
full of learning and fun. A little bit about myself, I am married and have four kids and three dogs. I love
spending time with my family when I am not in the classroom. I received my bachelor’s in business
administration from Brigham Young University-Idaho. For the last year I’ve been working with Early
Childhood Special Education as well as with PreK students.

I am looking forward to working with you and your child as we teach them to reach their full potential.

I believe that communication is the key to your child’s success and to a great parent/teacher
relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. I will also
do my part by sending home the weekly communication folder that will go out at the beginning of each
week and will be returned to the classroom every Friday.

I would like to take this opportunity to share with you some important information about our classroom
procedures. I expect every student to show respect by always listening to the teacher and classmates.
Keep their hands, feet, and other objects to themselves. Listen to class instructions and be respectful to
other classes while we walk to lunch, bathroom, recess, or library. These procedures are designed to
ensure that our classroom is a safe and positive learning environment for all students.

Homework will be assigned on Monday and will be due on Friday of the same week. You can find the
homework in the communication folder. If for any reason homework is not returned on Friday, please
return it no later than Monday of the following week.

Thank you for your cooperation and support. I look forward to working with you and your child this year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ahira Merrell
