Benefits and Drawbacks of Cloning

Virnes Jirah G. Encila

According to Amanda Robb, human cloning is the process of creating a genetically identical
human. Organism like bacteria, worms, sea star and plants can all reproduce through cloning. Cloning
creates genetically identical copies of organism, which means there is no genetic diversity between the
parent and offspring.

Proponents of human cloning argue that it could have a number of benefits, including medical
advancements — used to create organs for transplant, which could save countless lives. Next, it could be
used to preserve the genetic materials of individuals, even after they have passed away, and lastly,
reproduction — allow infertile couples to have genetically related children.

However, there are also a number of significant disadvantages to human cloning, including
ethical concerns — some people believe that human cloning is morally wrong and goes against the
natural order of things. Next, cloned animals have been known to suffer from a range of health problems,
and there is no reason to believe that cloned humans would be any different, and lastly, cloning could
create a host of social issues, including questions around identity and family relationship.

In conclusion, human cloning is a complicated issue that raises important medical and scientific
question and concern some countries like France Germany and the Russia federation have prohibited all
research and actual cloning processes. Nevertheless, the process of cloning is still up for further studies.
