Programme the telephone numbers of the users to be notified if the generator set or engine goes into alarm mode, see USER
PROGRAMMING in the user manual.
Having completed these settings the services are accessible.
It is possible that, even having completed all settings correctly, there are some problems in the modem functions; in this case, the
control unit will enable the relative fault. Here below is a list of faults:

Precautions
• The serial cable coming from the card must not be placed near power cables or cables that emit interference.
• Place the aerial vertically.
• Take the power supply for the MODEM from the same power supply line as the control unit. So that the control unit can
detect its connection with the modem, we advise supplying power to the control unit and the modem at the same time.

Phone number
The telephone number is provided by the telephone company after executing the contract. This number is to be keyed in
on your mobile phone when you wish to interact with the modem.
Procedure for disabling the PIN code
After purchasing a Sim Card from a telephone company with any contract chosen by the customer, the PIN code has to be
disabled. To do this, insert the SIM Card in a normal mobile phone for private use; switch on the phone and key in the PIN
code issued by the telephone company. Using the menu of the mobile phone, look for the procedure for deactivating the
PIN code. Carry out the deactivation procedure so that the next time the SIM Card is switched on the code is no longer
required. Switch off the mobile phone and extract the SIM Card; make sure the MODEM is not being supplied with power
and then insert the SIM Card in its housing.

Commissioning
To be sure that the area surrounding the modem is reached by the field signal, we advise checking with a normal mobile
phone, with the same telephone company as the SIM Card of the modem, for the presence of the signal, normally shown
on the display of the mobile phone by a graphic indication. The aerial, being with magnetic material, can be positioned in
the maximum signal position. If the telephone companies of the mobile phone and the modem are different, the reliability
of the test cannot be guaranteed.

Automatic sending of fault SMS
If an fault occurs, the control unit (in automatic mode) sends a text message (SMS) to the priority phone TELEPHONE 1
to notify the maintenance staff; the message is of the following type:

The text is the same shown on the display. When the engine is equipped with a control unit to electronically control the
injection system, the SMS shows the general indication ˝ENGINE CONTROL UNIT FAULT″ (code 431). For the complete,
detailed list of the aforementioned faults write 004 with the mobile phone or SPN FMI or STATUS 4.
SMS messages sending
Notifies via SMS message when the generator set or the engine is in alarm state. When the control unit reports a G. S. or
engine anomaly, the first number is called; if it does not answer after 10 minutes, the message is sent to the second
number, and so on. Three numbers are set. The cycle continues until one of the three subscribers called transmits an
SMS with the “OK” command to the control unit. This command is reset with a new generator set anomaly.
N.B.: it is possible that after the sending of the “OK” command by one of the three subscribers, an anomaly message is still
sent to the next subscriber. This is due to the delays caused by the telephone network traffic and is not related to the
control unit.
Automatic sending of SMS at each start or stop
(Function usually disabled)
The control unit (in automatic mode) sends an SMS to the priority phone TELEPHONE 1 notifying that the engine
has started or stopped.
