Cerro Alegre
Cerro Alegre
It is in the city of Valparaíso, in the V Region. It is an urbanised
sector, largely built by English and German immigrants, starting in
the first half of the 19th century. Its streets attempt some regularity
within the difficult conditions imposed by the slope and topography,
with a result of great value and complexity.
The route of the sector offers a connection of diverse realities and
unusual perspectives that generate surprise in the tourists.
The hills Alegre and Concepción were declared a Typical Zone in
1979, and a subsequent decree in 1999 extended the previously
protected area. Its name comes from the beautiful gardens that
decorated the houses in the area, and nowadays Cerro Alegre is one
of the most visited tourist places in Valparaíso, with many hostels,
hotels, and services. Moreover, wherever you look you will find
fabulous landscapes, viewpoints, and stairways.
