1. Digital age/generation – a period in the history characterised by a
shift from industrial production to information and computerisation/
young people who grown up with PCs and mobile phones
2. Interactive whiteboard - a large touchscreen monitor, at school to
have more interactive classes
3. Wireless network - any type of network that uses electromagnetic
waves, such as radio waves, to transmit data
4. Screen reader - a piece of software that allows you, through
keyboard commands, to get anytext information is read to you in
synthetic speech
5. Assistive technology - technology used for people with disabilities
6. End user - a person who uses a product or service on a computer
7. Log on - entering information related to an account name and its
password to access a computer resource
8. Log off - to terminate a connection to a computer or network
9. Internet - the largest known public network in the world
10. Virtual Reality (VR) - the artificial environment of the latest video
games
11. Augmented Reality (AR) - represents the process by which it is
possible to superimpose a virtual reality on the real world
12. Global Positioning System (GPS) - a navigation system consisting
of various satellites that allow this system to determine location of
someone or something, speed and direction
13. Would processors - a program used for creating and editing text
14. Download - to copy files from a server to your PC or mobile
15. Digital - describes the information that is recorded or broadcast using
computers
16. Monitors – screens
17. ATM - automatic teller machines, which dispense money to
customers by the use of a PIN - protected card
18. PIN – personal identification number, the same number used at
cashpoints; this system makes transactions more secure
19. Data – raw information of any kind
20. Component – any device internal to the computer, such as a primary
hard disk drive or motherboard
21. Network – a group of connected computers which share resources
22. Peripheral – an external computer add-on, such as a printer or a
scanner; also known as an 'accessory
23. Hardware – physical things that make up a computer, such as a
component or a peripheral
24. Program – a set of instructions telling the computer what to do
25. Database – an organized, electronic collection of information
optimized for fast access and typically consisting of rows, columns,
indexes, and keys
26. Application – a software program which allows a user to perform
specific tasks such as word processing, email, accounting, database
management
27. Softaware – any program designed to run on a computer
28. Computer – an electronic, digital device that stores and processes
information
29. Keyboard – an input device having a number of keys relating to a
Natural Language, such as English,or Greek
30. Hardware maintenance - repairing and replacing broken and failing
computer hardware
31. Social networking - an online platform which people use to build
social networks or social relations with other people who share similar
personal or career interests, activities, backgrounds or real- life
connections
32. Content - the information, material presented on a website or other
digital medium
33. Blog – a website that allows the users to reflect, share opinions,
comment on current events, and discuss various topics in the form of
an online journal, sometimes letting readers comment on their posts
34. Programming language – a set of commands, instructions, and other
syntax use to create a software program
35. Technical assistance – providing of advice, help and training
pertaining to the installation, operation, and maintenance of
equipment
36. Platform – any hardware or software used to host an application or
service
37. Webpage – a hypertext document connected to the world wide web
38. To browse – to move from a link to a link in order to view the
contents of web pages
39. To post – to publish a commentary, a message or an article on an
Internet newsgroup, forum, or other bulletin board area
40. To code – to write the source code for a program in a binary form
41. Web 1.0. – the term is used to refer to the first stage of development
on the World Wide Web that was characterized by simple static
websites. Most websites in the 1990s had originally been built with
static HTML pages, and a few simple styles embedded in the HTML
markup
42. Web 2.0. – a name for all the internet features and websites that
allow users to create, change, and share internet content

44. Difference Between Web 1.0/Web 2.0 - Web 1.0 was all about
fetching, and reading information. Web 2.0 is all about reading,
writing, creating, and interacting with the end user. It was famously
called the participative social web
