TYPES OF KITCHENS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS

1.Galley Kitchen- The galley style kitchen is a functional kitchen design that allows you to reach all
areas of the kitchen with minimal walking distance. Providing a great layout for ample cabinets and
benchtop space, the galley style kitchen is a functional and contemporary design and the choice of
many chefs.

2.Single Line Kitchen- As the name suggests, these kitchens are designed along a single wall,
minimizing wasted space and creating a sleek layout. While they may not be suitable for every home
or space, they offer unique advantages. One of the critical benefits of single-line kitchens is their
ability to optimize limited space.

3.U-shaped Kitchen- The U-shaped kitchen is designed for high-efficiency cooking and is the perfect
example of the 'working triangle' we hear so much about in kitchen design – you can easily move
between your sink, ovens/cooktop, refrigerator and butler pantry/regular pantry to get all the
ingredients you need.
Example:
4.L-shaped Kitchen- L-shaped kitchens are tucked into corners and usually have two open ends which
allows for different entries and exits. This means traffic can flow freely through the space. A free-
flowing kitchen can be really beneficial when entertaining because less traffic jams mean more room
and less stress when preparing food!
Example:

5.Island Kitchen- A kitchen island is a freestanding cabinet or countertop that is accessible from all
sides. It provides additional workspace and storage space in the center of your kitchen, where
preparation, cooking, and cleaning can all take place.
