TOPIC-3 Aspects of Equality among People

1-Define the term ‘Equality’.


Treating others equally without hatred or discrimination regardless
of colour, gender, religion or race.

2-List out and explain 5 different types of equality.

There are different types of equality found in society. The


following are the different types of equality as found in different
political systems.
1. Civil Equality:
It implies that all citizens should be treated alike without any
discrimination on the grounds of religion, belief, caste or creed.

2. Political Equality:
Political equality implies that all citizens should have political
rights and should have equal access to all offices of authority.

3. Social Equality:
It means that all citizens are equally eligible to enjoy various
opportunities in society.

4. Natural Equality:
Natural equality is another type of equality. It implies that all men
are born free and equal and are endowed with equal gifts and
talents. It also means that the State should try to reduce
inequality, rather than perpetuate it.

5. Economic Equality:
It means that wealth should be enjoyed equally by all. If primary
needs of an individual are not fulfilled, there cannot be real
democracy.
3-What is meant by ‘Fairness’? Give an example of fairness?

Fairness is defined as just and reasonable treatment in


accordance with accepted rules or principles. Treating all people
equally and applying reasonable punishments only when rules are
broken is an example of fairness.

4-How you will define ‘Justice’?

Justice is a key social pillar that is important for peace in the


society. It is based on fairness, equality, balance and protection of
individuals in community.
