ENERGY
Energy is the ability or power to do work. Energy give power to our daily activities. Work and energy are
closely related. When work is done on an object, energy is transferred to that object. The search of energy
sources and their development become important in our world today. Energy can be classified into two general
types: Kinetic and Potential energy.
Potential energy is energy that is stored in an object at rest. Potential energy or stored energy could be
gravitational potential energy and elastic potential energy. Gravitational potential energy is due to the position
of the object in relation to the ground while elastic potential energy is energy associated with elastic materials.
Examples:
A ball held above the ground A stretch rubber band in the slingshot

Boulders on a hill.

Kinetic energy is energy in motion. Potential energy can be changed into kinetic energy. Kinetic energy
can be changed into potential energy.
Examples:
A ball rolling on the ground A stone released by the slingshot

A boulder rolling down the hill
