1. 600년의 역사를 이어온 대학
성균관대학교는 1398년 조선왕조 때 설립되어, 1953년 대학원을 설치하며 종합대학으로
승격되었습니다. 한국의 ‘실리콘벨리’라 불리는 수원에 위치한 자연과학캠퍼스는 1978년
문을 열었습니다. 1996년에는 삼성그룹이 경영에 참여하여 새로운 성균관대 발전의 시대를
함께 열어가고 있습니다.

‣ SKKU 대학원과정 수업연한 : 석사과정, 박사과정 모두 2년으로 동일
· 박사과정: 수업연한 2년 직후, 이어서 4개 학기의 연구등록을 해야 함(박사수료생으로 등록됨)
- 연구등록 4개 학기 경과 전 학위를 취득한 자에게는 잔여기간의 연구등록 면제
‣ 박사과정 장학금 유의사항
· GKS 장학생 수학연한(장학기간)인 3년까지: 등록금 및 생활비를 지원받을 수 있음
· 하지만, 장학기간 이후(3년 이후) 학위를 취득하지 못하여 추가등록이 필요한 경우: 등록금은
본교에서 지원되지만, 생활비는 지원되지 않음
· 또한, 박사과정 수업연한(2년) 이후 연구등록 기간에는 기숙사 배정이 어려울 수 있음

1. Over 600 Years of Academic History
SKKU was founded in 1398 during the Joseon Dynasty and was promoted to a
comprehensive university opening the graduate schools in 1953. Natural Sciences
Campus opened in 1978 in Suwon, known as the Silicon Valley of Korea. Samsung
Group joined the University Foundation in 1996 opening a new era for SKKU’s
innovative advancements.

 【 Notice for PhD Candidates】 ※ applicable for all departments
‣ Length of Coursework for PhD and Master’s Program : 2 years
· PhD students should continue 4 semesters (2 years) for research after the 2-year coursework.
However, student, conferred with the PhD degree before completing the 4 semesters, will be exempt
from the remaining research semesters.
· PhD-GKS scholars will be sponsored by NIIED for tuition and living expenses for the 3-year scholarship
period. However, during the remaining research semesters after the scholarship period, scholars will
only be sponsored for tuition by SKKU (living expenses will not be included)
