WHO WHICH THAT (YANG)

(Relative clause, adjective claus, finite clause)

Dua kalimat dapat digabung dengan menggunakan who, which, atau that.
Who untuk orang, which untuk benda, that bisa untuk orang maupun benda.

Join the two sentences by making the second a relative clause.


Omit the pronoun wherever possible.

Examples: The man is a detective. He is standing in the corner.


The man who is standing in the corner is a detective.
This is the man. We spoke to him last week.
This is the man we spoke to last week.

1 I showed him the letter. I received it this morning.


2 The house is beautiful. My uncle lives in it.
3 That is the boy. He broke your window.
4 I met the man. You sold your car to him.
5 I met the man. His daughter works in our office.
6 I have seen the film. You are talking about it.
7 The people are very kind. I am staying with them.
8 He received the letter. He was waiting for it.
9 I know the boy. He married your sister.

Omission of the relative pronoun.


If you think the relative pronoun can be omitted , put it in parenthesis:
Example: Is this the book (that) you were looking for?

1 The man that we spoke to was a rather unusual person.


2 The book that you lent me was very good.
3 The man that told us that story was lying.
4 The person who owns this ship is my neighbour.
5 The picture which I bought last year is worth much more that I paid for it.
6 The house in which I was born is still standing.
7 The person that you are talking about is my nephew.
8 I met a woman whose name I can’t remember.
9 The only person that understood the situation was Victor.
10 I showed him the photograph which you liked so much.
