Aim
The research aims to analyse the Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on the sales of Aviation
industry: A case study of British Airways.

Objectives
To fulfil the research aim, we have to accomplish these following objectives:
 To provide an overview of the aviation industry and the impact of the COVID-19
pandemic on the global aviation industry.
 To analyse the sales performance of British Airways before and during the COVID-19
pandemic.
 To identify the factors that have influenced the sales of British Airways during the
pandemic, including changes in customer behaviour, travel restrictions, and government
policies.
 To evaluate the effectiveness of the measures taken by British Airways to mitigate the
impact of the pandemic on its sales.

Methodology

Approach
Research approach refers to the procedure that a researcher uses to collect, evaluate and interpret
necessary information regarding the research (Pandey and Pandey, 2021). Research can mainly
use three types of research approach: qualitative, quantitative and mixed. In the following
research, the researcher has chosen a qualitative research approach to collect and interpret data.
By using this research approach, the researcher will collect non-numerical information regarding
the impact of COVID-19 in the aviation sector which will give a deep understanding regarding
the research concepts. The use of qualitative data will also help the researcher to process the
collected information based on the participants perspective (Islam and Aldaihani, 2022). As the
sales rate of the aviation industry depends on the passengers' perception, using a qualitative
approach will be effective in this following study to critically understand people’s experiences,
behaviour and interactions with the aviation organisations during the pandemic (Liu et al.,
(2021).

Design
In the following research, the researcher has decided to use the case study research design to
examine the situations of the aviation industry. For conducting the case study, the researcher will
use data from personal interviews from selected participants of the research. The researcher will
ensure that all the selected participants have direct or indirect connection with the aviation
industry.

Methods
In research, methods refer to the data collection process that the researcher use to gather
necessary information regarding the research topic (Shelton et al., 2022). In this following study,
the researcher will use primary data collection methods to collect data from first-hand sources.
Particularly the personal interviews method of primary data collection will be used in this
research to collect raw data regarding the impact of pandemic in the sales of aviation sector
(Kratochwill et al., 2023). It will assist the researcher to collect only the relevant data for the
research.

Participants
For collecting information regarding the aviation industry, the researcher has selected British
Airway and will take personal interviews from its various stakeholders. As the sales depends on
the customers of the aviation organisation, the researcher will mainly take interviews from the
customers of British Airways (Hasan et al., 2021). Moreover, researcher will also take interviews
from the employees of British Airways through which he will be able to understand what
changes actually occurred in the organisation during the COVID-19 pandemic situations.

Ethical consideration

Respect for the autonomy, privacy and dignity of individuals and communities
While conducting any research, a researcher needs to maintain enough autonomy, dignity and
privacy of the participants from which information is collected (Broesch et al., 2020). This also
helps the researcher to increase the credibility and authenticity of the collected information. As
the researcher will collect data through personal interviews, he has to provide enough
information to the participants regarding the research on aviation industry. The researcher should
properly illustrate the purpose of the research to the participants and ensure their consent &
voluntary agreement to participate in the research activities. Moreover, the researcher will keep
the identity of the participants confidential and also store the recorded data in an encrypted way.
Research will ensure enough privacy of the participants and respect their opinions regarding the
research.

Scientific integrity
By using listening, critical thinking, questioning skills, the researcher will ensure the authenticity
of the collected information regarding the research. As the data will be collected through
personal interviews, the researcher has to ask valid questions to the participants and needs to
actively listen to their answers. By using the critical thinking skills, the researcher will only note
down the valid data regarding the research topic and avoid the information bias (Suri, 2020). The
credibility of the research will be arisen from the statement that all of the participants are major
stakeholders of the aviation industry. By analysing the backgrounds of participants before taking
personal interviews, the researcher will be able to select the best participants related to the
research.

Social responsibility
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the aviation organisation has suffered from huge
losses due to the dramatic reduction in sales (Dube et al., 2021). While the aviation industry was
earning huge profits before the pandemic situation, COVID-19 pandemic has brought major
changes in customers behaviour which resulted in loss of sales for the aviation industry. Through
this following research, the researcher is going to assist the aviation sector to understand the
main reason behind their losses of sales during the pandemic. Moreover, this research will also
help the aviation sector to improve their services according to the pandemic situation by which
their profitability will increase in the future (Eaton, 2020).

Maximising benefit and minimising harm

Findings from this research is going to assist the aviation sector to understand the actual impact
of COVID pandemic in its overall sales (Fiesler, 2019). By focusing on the findings of this
research, organisations of the aviation sector will be able to overcome the problems for which
sales are decreasing. The major risks related to this research is maintaining enough privacy of the
participants so that they can’t get harmed after the publication of this research. For this, the
researcher has decided not to public any personal information of the participants in the research
paper. So, this research is going to be beneficial for the aviation industry to enhance their sales in
future.
