“An Industrial Visit at Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association
(IMTMA), Pune”
The Department of Automation and Robotics Engineering, organized an Industrial
Visit at “Metrolab Automation Private Limited, Pune” on 24th August 2022.

About the Program:
The Department Automation and Robotics Engineering organized Industrial visit for second
year students. In this Industrial visit student get Hand on experience and knowledge about the
following machines.

 CNC Lathe Machine


 VMC Milling Machine
 Hydraulic Press Machine
The department of automation and robotics organized the industrial visit for Second year
student. We visit metro lab company this the company who develop or manufacture machines
using man power as well as robotics that what our actual purpose to visit this company so we
should understand why our branch start ,to full fill industrial requirements. Metrolab works
on many projects they gives solutions to other automation companies to solve their
production limit problem.
IMTMA has played a leading role in the development of the machine tool industry, which is the
backbone for industrial growth in India. This national cause has been the guiding force behind
IMTMA and its membership. IMTMA is committed to support its members to increase
competitiveness, enhance efficiency, improve productivity, and ensure growth. It does so with the aim
to assist the members to become cost-effective, technology-driven, and ever responsive to customers’
changing needs. At the same time, IMTMA has supported the user industries with better and more
modern technology of machine tools to provide them with competitive manufacturing solutions.
Recognized as the sole voice of the Indian machine tool industry, IMTMA with close to 500 members
represents 90% of the organized machine tool and allied equipment manufacturers.Formed in 1946,
the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association IMTMA was started when 19 machine tool
manufacturers joined hands. Over a period of time, the association has grown in size and strength and
has emerged as the voice of the machine tool industry. Started in the Godrej Campus in Vikhroli,
Mumbai, the Association later shifted its office to New Delhi and then moved to its own premises
within the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in Bengaluru.

In 1969, IMTMA hosted the flagship event ‘IMTEX’ – a leading B2B Machine tool exhibition in
South and South East Asia, which is now hosted at the BIEC. The exhibition has grown in size and
today is the largest machine tool exhibition in South and South East Asia. IMTMA also conducts
short term ‘Seminars & Workshops,’ organizes ‘Technology Mission’ to international Trade fairs for
CEOs and voices the ‘demands of the industry’ to the government.
The Association also conducts training programs throughout the year, with skill development as its
motto. Through various long term and short term training programs the Association bridges the gap
between the academics and the industry requirement and up skill the working professionals for the
benefit of the machine tool industry. IMTMA follows very strict Code of Conduct and has a Vigil
Mechanism Policy in place as per to the government policies and set itself high standards, concerning
both.
Purpose:
The purpose of industrial training is to provide to students the feel of the actual working
environment and to gain practical knowledge and skills, which in turn will motivate, develop
and build their confidence.
Objectives-

 To reduce the gap between Industry and Academy.


 To educate students about the Industrial Machinery.
 To motivate the students for exploring the potential areas in this field of career.
 To develop skills in the application of theory to practical work situations.
 To develop skills and techniques directly applicable to their careers.
 To build the strength, teamwork spirit and self-confidence in students life.
 To enhance the ability to improve students creativity skills and sharing ideas.
 To build a good communication skill with group of workers and learn to learn
proper behavior of corporate life in industrial sector.
 The student will be able instilled with good moral values such as
responsibility, commitment and trustworthy during their training.
Conclusion
The industrial visit was a great success and an exhilarating experience for the students who
went for the visit. This gave us an insight into a production unit and its workings. The visit
also provided us with excellent practical examples where the principles of management were
followed with utmost precision to attain higher profitability. The company not only explained
to us how to become profitable but also how to maintain the quality standards and follow the
environmental policies. They have given enough time to the students for the query session.
Overall, it was a learning experience for the students, and they enjoyed it.
