Becky’s blog: Glastonbury
I’ve spent the last five days listening to live music at the world-
famous Glastonbury Festival. It’s so nice to get back to my
comfortable bed after sleeping on the hard ground in a tent for
five nights. However, I shouldn’t complain – it was definitely worth
making the effort to go. I saw some amazing bands, and the
atmosphere was awesome!
Glastonbury Festival takes place in June every year, and I’ve been
going since I was sixteen. I’ve never missed a year, and although
spending five days at a music festival can be quite hard work, and
I’m not as young as I used to be, I still enjoy it.
This year’s festival started badly because of the weather on the
first day. It was a warm, sunny day when my friend Laura and I left
London, but by the time we reached Glastonbury, it had started
raining. Unfortunately, it didn’t stop raining for the next two hours,
which meant that we had to put up our tent in the rain. By the time
we had finished putting up the tent, everything we had taken was
wet – even our sleeping bags!
At this point, Laura, who admitted she hadn’t been looking forward
to camping, asked if we could go and find a hotel to stay in instead. I
assured her that our things would dry quickly once it stopped raining,

and luckily the sun came out half an hour later and we managed to
dry most of our things that afternoon.
Fortunately, it didn’t rain again and we were able to enjoy listening to
the bands wearing just shorts and T-shirts. The weather was warm
and sunny, without being too hot, so it was perfect for spending the
whole afternoon and evening outside, listening to music and chatting
to our friends.
What did I enjoy most about the festival? The best thing about it
was the music, of course. We saw several of our favourite bands
and singers, including Billie Eilish, who was amazing, and Coldplay.
The other great thing about it was that over the five days we made
lots of new friends from all over the world. I got to know people from
Germany, Sweden, Italy and the USA.
What were my least favourite things about this year’s Glastonbury
Festival? Well, one was not being able to sleep properly. It isn’t
easy to get a good night’s sleep when you’re camping in a field
surrounded by hundreds of other people. The other thing was the
cost of the food and drinks available from the food stalls around the
site. The food was so expensive – it would have been cheaper to go
to a restaurant!
